Dear Competitive Tennis Players.

Are you tired of losing to the same players, that you know you should be beating?

I know the feeling... been there and have experienced THAT.

The first thing that you have to do is change your matchplay strategies, the next thing you have to do is develop an all around solid matchplay game, for competing at a consistent high level.

That means that.

You must raise your matchplay standards.

Because to be able to use the broken rhythm method effectively, you must be able to execute all the shots in your matches.

After you you do that.

Use can use these 3 strategies to start winning more of your tennis matches.

Tip number 1.

Mix in more slice shots during points.

As you already know.

The one thing that most players love to do during points is gain and find their rhythm for their shots.

And this is why you want to mix in some slice shots from time to time on them.

What happens is this... they aren't used to the dealing with different spins and they end up mistiming the ball.

My research has found out that, most players hate slice shots, with bite (tennis term there).

This is a common problem at the junior and adult level.

Which is why you need to be using it from today.

Hitting the slice shot must be practiced from all angles too.

To help you develop more racket head control in practice.

2nd tip.

In practice develop a heavy topspin shot.

I remember watching Nadal play at the US Open before.

What I noticed was this and you can't see this while watching him on TV but... his strokes are very, very HEAVY with top spin and hard to handle for most players!!

I remember that, his balls were bouncing very high (almost like jumping off the ground) and his opponent was always backing up and being pushed back, then when he got a short one, his either crushed it or drop shot it!!!

This goes back to what I said before at the start of this post.

Get the reps in daily to master your strokes and then develop a heavy forehand and start using it just like Nadal does.

Quick tip.

Imagine that the racket is an extension of the palm of your hand, then try to wait as long as possible with your non-racket hand on the throat during your contact move, then pull away from the ball on your swing, but extend through the hitting zone a little longer with your racket.

Did you get that? If not, write it down and keep reading it, until YOU do.

Here is what you will notice when you do understand it, you can generate more spin and power with less effort, by doing this over and over again during practice.

3rd tip.

Bring them into the net.

As you alread know.

90% of all juniors and adults have no net game, because they don't work on their net game enough in practice.

And this is why you want to bring them in more during the match, then blast it at RIGHT at them or pass them if they do get it back to you.

Never rush this strategy either.

Why?

They have no net game just like I said, so think 2 shot pass all the time.

Also.

Their overhead usually sucks as well.

So, give them a good dose of lobs during the match!!

What I love about this last tip is... they will lose their confidence and flow for the whole match, because they will be too conscious of not wanting to come in on points!!!

When this happens, start getting in their heads by laughing at them after points and watch them mentally break down eventually!!

Okay.

Now.

Try out those 3 tips and start winning more matches.

Oh yeah.

I forgot to mention that... these 3 tips have already been tested out and proven to work by my students here in kansai!!

Nice rehash of well known and oft posted tactics on the Forum. Just don't laugh at folks you can take a point off of, if you don't want to develop a reputation as a jerk.

What is the "broken rhythm" method? You mentioned it but didn't explain it.

Isn't it a given for any strategy to succeed that you need to "be able to execute all the shots in your matches"?

So one shouldn't try your idea until one can execute all of the shots?
And what if one cannot?

Tip number 1.

Mix in more slice shots during points.

I think this is a valid tip against someone who is accustomed to only seeing TS. But against my garden variety 4.5 opponent, it won't trouble them that much. Sure if I hit a very heavy and biting slice it will be trouble but my error rate will rise faster than my winner rate.

2nd tip.

In practice develop a heavy topspin shot.

I can't fault the advice in a vacuum but It's not common to see someone with both a heavy slice and TS.

3rd tip.

Bring them into the net.

This is a subtle strategy: if you're not careful how you bring them to the net, you might be giving them an opportunity to attack. I don't want to deliberately put myself in a defensive position unless I know his OH is terrible. Again, vs most of my opponents, this is not the case.

When this happens, start getting in their heads by laughing at them after points and watch them mentally break down eventually!!

Interesting: I've never seen you advocate gamesmanship.

Who are these player "who you know you should be beating"? Let me guess, is it pushers again?

As for the advice, it isn't much use for those who are loosing to players "who you know you should be beating"? Take one part of the advice, develop a heavy topspin shot like Nadal. Frankly if a person is capable of that shot, they don't need the rest of the post because they will batter the so called players ""who you know you should be beating"?" and pretty much anyone else.

As for the broken rhythm method? You mean junkballing? It will be interesting to see players on this forum attempting to beat junkballers by out junking them. Also I would love to meet these junkers and pushers who apparently don't like slice because I haven't come across them. Ball bashers hate slice yes but they are **** easy to beat anyway.

I knew! I need to have nadal forehand, ok ill start practice, in some months i should be able to hit all the shots, probably ill win more matches like this, being better, you opened my eyes

Don't worry, they won't be able to handle the Nafal forehand the OP thinks you can magically develop. As your 3000=4000rpm shots hammer into them, they will be totally at your mercy.

..at which point you will laugh mercilessly as they fall helplessly before you, never to play with you again because you're such an a**-whipe.

Then you should combine it with a 140mph first serve and Murray's two handed backhand. Of course the OP would probably say you will still lose unless you use the broken rhythm method.

To be fair, once everyone on this forum follows the OP's advice and develops a Nadal level forehand, they will all be entering and winning ATP tour events. So they can burn as many bridges as they like.

For once I agree with TDs tactics. Not sure it will win more matches. Trouble is will yr opp let u do it. E.g. a hard flat FH is difficult to moonball. I have a normally good short angled slice. But if the incoming ball is too fast I often hit it just wide.

I don't get it. I probably need a picture book. o_O

TLDR: slice like Federer, heavy topspin FH like Nadal, and dropshot like Djokovic!
