"3 Things You Can Learn From Watching Nadal."

Rafael Nadal just won another tournament in Melbourne today.

And man was it a great match.

He was tested out there today and he mentally came through like the warrior he always does.

By the way.

Keep your eyes on this Maxime Cressy guy.

Because this young American is a stud!!!

Let me tell you, he has the serve, the strokes and the net game to breakthrough this year, the guy is a real smooth operator on the court too.

My question is this... "Where the hell did he come from"!!

Me and my Japanese friends were just asking ourselves that question, while watching the match at the club.

Anyway.

Back to Nadal and what we can learn from watching this tennis warrior play in matches.

One.

Develop laser like focus during competition.

When you are watching Nadal play, you can just see the intensified focus on this guy's face.

What can you learn here?

He is always mentally locked into the match and he doesn't let anything or anybody get to him emotionally or affect his concentration.

You can do the same thing in your matches, but it takes daily practice.

Concentration is a learnable skill.

And you have to have a deep desire to do it on a consistent basis in your tennis matches.

Two.

The competitve mindset.

This is what seperates him from the other players on tour.

Nadal just loves to compete!!

Doesn't he?

I mean.

When you are watching him, you can just tell that this guy is in it for the mental challenge, because he wants to compete.

Which is why he has been so successful throughout his career on tour.

Think about it.

Nadal has be doing this for YEARS!!

How about you?

Do you love to compete in all your matches?

Have you develop the competitive mindset for competing on a high level, on a consistent basis?

If not, it get to work on your mental game today.

Three.

He leaves it all out there on the court!!

As a tennis fan.

You never feel cheated when you pay to see him play!!!

Do YOU?

What I love the most about Nadal is this.

The guys goes all in on every point, no matter what the score is and he just leaves it all out there on the court.

And what is great about adopting this playing philosophy is... even when you do lose a match.

You can still walk off the court feeling like a Winner or a Champion.

This is the Champion's Mindset and only a few players ever develop it during their careers.

That's really why we all love watching him compete, the guy is a inspiration to many people and those are 3 things that you can learn from watching him and start modeling your matchplay game after him.

For you guys who didn't see the match.

Go checkout the highlights here.

I watched it 3 times, because the tennis was off the charts!!

Alright then.

Let me know what you think about the tips in the comment section below.

Have a great weekend guys!!!

Do you think you can develop laser like focus or is that innate?

I suspect it is more innate And hard wired as attentional abilities are quite obviously different in school children.

He played at UCLA and won a national championship in doubles. He has the goods and will give folks all they can handle at the AO.

It would certainly be a breath of fresh air to see some serve and volley make it's way back into the game, but it's such a hard thing to pull off these days. It took a little bit from Nadal to get comfortable with reading Cressy's serve, but once he did... along with understanding what it took to pass him... it was over. 2nd set Nadal was really starting to pull away even though Cressy kept it looking close by holding serve. Had there been a 3rd set (as in best of 5) Nadal would've probably won 6-1 in the 3rd.

The level of spin and slower court speeds make it very difficult for s&v since players can create more angles. Players also can confidently play much further back on the return giving them time to handle first serves and yet still dip the ball hard at the servers feet. It takes much longer for a player with s&v to develop... and that's a very hard road to travel. Lonely and full of disappointment as you get constantly passed. I would love to see Cressy have some real success. He hit some beautiful volleys, some unusual slice shots, etc. that made it interesting. Nadal certainly had to adjust to a very different style of game. If Cressy improves his groundstrokes and especially return of serve, he could be interesting to watch. But again, he'll have to serve great to really have a lot of success with how the game is played today. If they upped the court speed and did things to keep the ball from bouncing so high, he'd be much better off. It's a clay court style game these days everywhere you go... on any surface.
