310 + 101 = 411

The next target would be Federer plus Borg

That's 419 weeks!

I still think that's doable.

Then Federer + McEnroe = 480...

480 is almost unthinkable OR ???

Novak Djokovic

411 weeks at number 1

Federer 310 + Agassi 101 = 411

The first time that Novak has officially achieved a combination of Federer and another player with over 100 weeks at No. 1.

Congratulations!

Djokovic also has more masters than Federer and Sampras combined. Now, I know that masters were not seen in the same way back when Pete was competing and even Roger's earlier years this was the case, it is still quite the remarkable achievement, they combined have 39, and Novak has one more at 40.

Also don't forget the 74 weeks he should be ranked #1 but not counted for him since the pandemic outbreak, including
1) 22 weeks when ranking was frozen and Djokovic was clearly the #1.
2) 16 weeks of #1 ranking by Medvedev, because Wimbledom 2021 had no ranking points (ironically we had a russian #1 by punishing russian players)
3) 36 weeks of #1 ranking by Alcaraz from 2022-2023 because Djokovic was banned from competing in AO 2022 and USO 2022.

In all fairness, Djokovic should have got almost 500 weeks of #1 ranking by today.

Okay. Nadal twice and Federer plus Borg a week later. Novak thinks we're all crazy...

Federer, Agassi and Becker = 423
McEnroe, Borg, Agassi, Murray = 421

That's what has hurt me so much since March 2020. I've always said that they did something different with Federer.
No matter what, but it would never have worked out like this!

His numbers are already turning into a joke now.

We are having to stack up ATG players to equal him.

Don't think we will be seeing anything like this again in our lifetimes. Someone who can eclipse these numbers.

Actually the next target is doubling Nadal's weeks at number one, at 418. He will have 414 weeks locked in, with a legit shot at it, if he does well in IW and Miami.
As he is the joint record champion in Indian Wells with Federer and in Miami with Agassi, it would be a good opportunity to improve on that. They are dreams, but it would be marvellous. He's not defending anything there. Perfect situation.

It's quite interesting, he has more masters than anyone in history, but he only has the outright record in two of them, Shanghai and Paris.

Yes, because of the distribution. He seems to be very keen to deliver a halfway equal performance everywhere. That's why he can't be the record champion everywhere. Monte Carlo would fit the bill. But all Big Titles at least three times each is sick. A maximum of 10.

He's reached a point where anything he plays, he is going for some record.

Indian Wells - All time standalone record break tie with Federer
Miami - All time standalone record break tie with Agassi
Monte Carlo - Triple career golden masters
Madrid - Record equalling won on clay with Nadal
Rome - First to win 7 masters on two different surfaces (Paris, Rome)
and so on...

I need at least one more Wimbledon and one more US Open. Then you can discuss whether he's the No. 1 there. Not to mention the French Open. All Slams 4 times like Steffi. In the finals he would equal McEnroe, who has 8. With WCT.

When Novak reads it, he thinks: How am I supposed to fulfil all these wishes? I'll be 37, but I'd like to try...! I feel like I'm 30-33.

Novak should just take it week by week now. It's really the best for him now, with the goal to peak for the slams. Let the chips fall where they may. He's already got all the records, it's about adding those finally cherries on now....the cake is already there.

I got in with Novak when he had 6 and Federer had 17 and I thought I was going to go crazy. Federer was barely there. It was 2013 and he had only won Halle. A commentator kept saying that. He was the maestro, but had only won Halle so far he said

It would also be a safe record:
More GS than Federer & Murray combined!
That's not so obvious either.
I think it will stay that way.

If Novak is on 1, the tour is suddenly interrupted for 5 months.
Otherwise he is either not allowed to play or he wins Wimbledon and gets no points, but plummets in the world rankings!
After a Wimbledon win!!!
The discussion about this will never be over!

This goes to show that creativity is not as important as creatine

Record are meant to be broken, but not all records.

Novak’s double career masters, if it reaches triple career masters lies in that category.

Weeks at #1 is reaching that territory. If he reaches eventually 520 weeks - I doubt anybody breaks it. That is 10 years of being ranked #1, insanity!

His triple career slam is already in that category. If he wins a French Open this year - it would be 4 career slams - simply unreachable category.

2 slams: "A Safin career"
3 slams: "A Murray career"
etc.

Only on TT

Federer was as dominant at #1 as Djokovic and 2x Nadal combined or something like that

Again, only on TT

Weeks at number 1= the most meaningless "achievement" in tennis history.
Rewarded for weeks spent sitting on a couch.

Carlos hasn't had a single week as a 1st place finisher. But he is the best of those born after 2000! And will certainly remain so. His 36 weeks are all Novak weeks.

Someone hook me up with an updated version of this.

No need to do down Masters. They have been so-called since 1990 and I don't buy that players treated them differently than today. With the sole exceptional case of the YEC they were always seen as second only to the Slams and most players played them for that reason alone. Sampras won 11 of them which is only 3 less than his Slam total and all the double digit Slam champions won double digit Masters as well with the exception of Borg who retired before the Masters series began.

Who can take away from your idol the possibility of adding weeks as number 1 in the world?
