3D print grommet (for old frames)

hello, I open a new subject, the other was more about 3D printing of rackets.

I was wondering if it was possible (at least if technologies) made 3D printing of grommets possible?

I think I have definitely found the rackets I need, and I think I will build up a small stock of these frames (radical tour 690-model trisys, zebra and candycane, and possibly a second pro tour 690.)

unlike the 630 version for which it is possible to replace the original grommets with those for prestige, for the 690 it is more complicated.

so, I was wondering if someone had tried or heard or seen someone happen to print grommets? and if it worked or not? thank you

The subject has been around for at least 3-6 years. The materials that can be use to print the grommets are not there yet. @fritzhimself had some success, but in the end, the material was too heavy. Then there is the measurment required to accurately measure a frame for the grommet creation process. That by itself requires a large scanner plus the software to generate the grommet. That is not available for the DIY.

I'm sorry to disappoint you - it certainly doesn't work with 3-D printing at the moment. The gromments are too fine with the drillings - this will never work.

I've seen some prints from SLA and more industrial printers that looks to have the precision and flex for grommets...
The bumper guard can be done with home 3D printers with a good choice of material and careful design otherwise the print might come out too brittle.

There's some business who will 3D print / help with the design if you don't have access to a 3D printer.

If you're interested in these DIY type projects:
Id visit a local "maker space" in the area and see what equipment they have or talk with someone there.

I've never actually taken a close look at my grommets but I'm guessing the bumper guard and grommet are two different materials?
The bumper guard can be done with most 3D printers
and the grommet will need something more specialized and expensive to get the material properties you want.

You can try SLA printers or even make your own mold if you're feeling adventurous
