Let's go Dog, cracking match so far
I know Nadal wrecked Fed at the AO and just won Barcelona but...
What great performances has he really put in this year?
Dare I say decline?
Monfils @AO. And that's about it, seriously. The rest wasn't pretty tennis really; just getting the job done when it was needed (except against Wawrinka of course).
I just feel winds of change for this year...
Still, getting the job done is a pretty important skill and nobody does it better than Rafa. Can't think of any other player who's won more matches while being somewhat 'outplayed'
I'm a winner and a grinner once again thanks.
Like Lukhas said he played great against Monfils at the AO but apart from that I can't really think of any others.
There can be only one...... Murray
Nadal is playing better now than he was this time last year, so I guess that means Nadal will win more than 10 titles this year if we go by form (although I don't personally predict a whole year based on form, just saying). This is the best I've seen Nadal move around the court since maybe 2010.
Moooon over Miami. Or in this case Indian wells.
I'm pleased to hear it. This forum is always enriched by your presence here.
AO semifinal anyone?
Yes, but this time last year he was on the comeback trail where as I get the impression he peaked (US Open 2013) and is on a steady descent, at least for now.
Going to go right ahead now and predict that Nadal will win neither IW or Miami, but will be fine for clay as per standard.
How can you say that he is playing better than last year. The guy has dropped multiple sets on hardcourt this year. To all kinds of players. You are wacky.
And we mustn't forget how he's being aided by the stem-cell therapy!
I'm saying Rafa will take this one 6-4.
Some great return efforts from Nadal but nicely swatted away on this occasion by Dolgo.
First, it's Federer (yep, that one once again). Then, I can't call it brilliant tennis either.
Nadal peaked at 2013 US Open because he traditionally is not ever a winner in the indoor season and traditionally gets injured in Australia. Its the yearly cycle.
Cat and mouse type point there lol.
I'm sick of hearing about stem-cell therapy, but yes that is the long-term solution that Nadal's future looks so bright with.
Yeah he played very well in that match but I wouldn't say "great" to be honest. Just my opinion though.
First, sure. Second, after the first, he played pretty solid. And great in the 2nd.
But yeah, he hasn't been brilliant this year. But again - he's won every match except the AO final.
The Dog seems to have cut down on the errors and is finding his target a bit more. Perhaps he's still in with a chance?
Do you have backup generators in that bunker in Mallorca?
Well Dolgopolov is playing a much better set than the 2nd now. Still dont think he'll break through yet but he's getting closer.
LMAO you're the one who keeps bringing it up all the time!!
The Monfils and Federer AO matches were arguably better than any of Nadal's 2013 US Open performances.
oh YES! What a way to break. Nadal fans nervous yet?
Well that's what I've said. He's getting the job done, which is an important skill, but besides Monfils I haven't been impressed.
Time for nadal To
Cheat his way for a Win.... If he gets broken he will ask for a MTO...
Uh oh!!! Crunch time!!!
Why would they be nervous Nadal is playing best hardcourt tennis ever no?
A rather immense rally.
Nadal upped the intensity but Dolgo was ready for the challenge.
Dolgo's inspired! Wow!
Dolgo is on fire and Nadal is getting his behind kicked right now
This is the kind of game you wish you were John Isner. lol
Outrageous ballstriking from Dolgopolov, who is certainly a man of considerable talent.
Quick! Bet on the dog to win for cash!
Pretty good from Dolgo. Just one more game.
Dolgo! Dolgo! Dolgo!
And Nadalrecord leaves
Those returns just aren't gonna get the job done for Rafa.
Great hold and he's only 1 game away!
Wonder if romeo placed any bets since he called this quite early on.
I never get nervous about Indian Wells, as Nadal has already won it multiple times.
This is crazy!
Now finish the boring moonballer. I'm so sick of him already..
Bump - posted right after the Dog's 3-2 hold before that magnificent break game.
Now. Can he finish?
