Right. So perhaps Sampras, Becker, McEnroe and Gonzales. I know Connors was prolific indoors but I'd wager these guys produced the higher level. Honourable mentions also for Lendl, who was also prolific, and Federer?

Yeah, Connors won a lot indoors but I would consider Federer and Lendl better in level. Or maybe it's just because he didn't have the typical indoors game. Lendl was very prolific and deserves to be higher placed than Federer based on achievements.

In terms of top level I think Federer should rank very highly. But he hasn't won as many big indoor titles as a lot of these guys - what he does have going for him is winning 5 YEC without dropping a match. Though if he faced Becker in the RR stages a couple of times that might be different.

Rosewall and Laver also won a lot indoors by virtue of the era - though I don't consider Rosewall's top level as quite so high.

Sampras for Connors Indoor. (If it was carpet I would also swap Federer for Borg).
