Level of play? How should we know, he'll never play the level of opponents Murray played.

If he goes on to have Edberg/Becker sort of success in Slams the argument that Murray would have been as great as them in some other eras will surely gain steam. How exciting.

A good match from Med. Could've finished in straights but perhaps it's even better that he needed to get over some mental hurdles here, toughened for the final.

Medvedev is better. Bigger stronger and mentally more consistent. He will win more slams than Murray. We are witnessing a potential all time great 4-5 slams or more. The serve and the double handed backhand are some of the best shots in the open era.

This is a bad loss for Tsitsipas. He needs to sort out this matchup. Develop a dependable slice and exploit Med's court positioning. He is not going to outhit Medvedev from the baseline. He needs to develop more craft. It's so obvious. I really thought he would change up the tactics from last year. Trading groundies is such a bad idea considering how Tsitsipas doesn't hit that flat.

It's like the effort that he had to put in to live with Medvedev for 3 sets just totally broke the poor lad. Like if not for the meltdown in the second he'd likely have had nothing to show for it all.

He is/was. You wouldn't know it from TTW posts about him these days (weak era this, weak era that, mental midget etc.) but he def was.
Why does that bother you? I am not a Fed fan as a personality but when he played it was mesmerizing. Similarly one would think rafa can’t play on anything other than clay but really who cares lol. The last couple of decades were awesome. Thats all that matters

Watched only last 20minutes. What was there with the judge the commentators mentioned? What happened?

Sissypas’ father couldn’t stop coaching him, Medvedev lost it and lashed out on the umpire.

Reckon he'll outdo Murray's career? Also in terms of play level, not just accomplishment...

Hard to gauge, because Murray had prime big 3 to contend with.

That said, I was never sold on Murray's peak level. That 2nd serve alone and losing big matches in straights so often just doesn't do it for me. I think Med might outdo him in terms of HC peak level, he's nowhere near Murray on grass (and clay so far) though.
