Why does that bother you? I am not a Fed fan as a personality but when he played it was mesmerizing. Similarly one would think rafa can’t play on anything other than clay but really who cares lol. The last couple of decades were awesome. Thats all that matters

You're right of course. It's just that I can only take so much of stupid (even on TTW).

emmm... he should just replace daddy and move on.

It’s time.

I will after wait until after the final before people say med is the next new thing should he win. Once thing for sure nadal will not melt down like Tsit.

. He needs to develop more craft. It's so obvious. I really thought he would change up the tactics from last year. Trading groundies is such a bad idea considering how Tsitsipas doesn't hit that flat.
Remember that Tsits played a bunch of drop shots in the first set. But Med tracked most of them down and he abandoned the strategy. But he did try a change in tactics, it just failed.

Does med have a hard on for novak. It’s strange he’s mentioning him after every match. I do think in a way that he will not be a crowd pleaser ala novak. Is that maybe because of game or person? Idk

Maybe a Max Verstappen fan lol.

I had to look it up:

Why does Max Verstappen have 33?

The story behind this choice is quite simple: in his youth the Dutchman had the #3 as a lucky number. He wanted to use it in F1, but the number was already taken by Daniel Ricciardo, so Verstappen then chose to use #33, "for double happiness".

I loved Medvedev's smug smile when Tsitsipas gave him that cold handshake

He knows he owns him from here to eternity

It's a bad match-up but yeah, Med is also a stronger personality.

But the biggest issue is that ROS. Winning multiple slams is a no-no until you have a dependable return.

This match wasn't quite a classic, but it still lived up to expectations and was quite compelling. It was impressive how Medvedev put on the afterburners towards the end of the third set and just accelerated all the way through to the end. Nice gear there.

Medvedev speaks to Jim Courier on court: “I don’t think bad emotions [when he had a go at the umpire] help me too much ... you lose concentration, you lose energy. I’m happy that I managed to re-concentrate ... I pulled out some serves, and that brought me back into the match ...

“Sometimes it was very even, a few moments, I maybe missed some balls where I could have gotten this break ... starting from 5-4 in the third, I found some momentum to read his serve ... his energy went down because of this. My energy was going up, and I think it would go up even more if the match will continue.

“I was more tired than usual ... I’m happy today was not five hours, so I can look forward to the next one.

“I’m going to play against one of the greatest [Nadal in the final] ... I think Novak will be watching this one in two days also. Grand slam finals are special ... I’m ready. I know that Rafa is a very strong player, I know I will need to show my best to try to win this match.”

Yeah, but it's not the same really. Tsitsipas has a pathetic slice. He needs to weaponise that shot if he wants to sort out this matchup. He has everything else, he has the finishing shot, but he lacks an effective slice to control these rallies. And that's hurting him.

Agreed. Stef also seems more vulnerable in uphill. Medvedev has a clearer mind on court, and knows he will have to work through those patches when things aren't working. He has a champion's mind.

Find it funny how he has managed to bring him into every interview “innocently” lol. It’s actually pretty hilarious and intentional. I think he probably realizes that when Novak does return it might be better to be on his good side…

LOL maybe yeah but more than that, I think they're just similar personalities. Both of them have that hot headed, rebellious free-minded nature with a bit (or more than a bit) of a mean streak thrown in.

In short, he brings up Novak because he likes him and looks up to him but also because he likes to **** people off.

Don’t know why next gen just cannot maintain consistent performance. Stef played like **** In the last two sets

True that his energy levels were going down and his resistance dropped... partly because Medvedev enjoys taking his soul, though. Medvedev made a point of holding the baseline more often from halfway thru the 3rd onwards, of his own accord and not just as an automatic effect of Tsitsipas gradually becoming weaker. It's a dynamic this next gen seem fond of, the way they snake around from deep to the baseline - especially prevalent with Zverev, Medvedev and Tsitsipas, but Meddy does it best, and he's the most cerebral player of the three, and he changed the balance of that fluid baseline style in favour of more aggression later on.

Except he doesn't try hard to get loved like Novak does and come across as needy.
