4D 300 Tour vs. Youtek Prestige MP

Both rackets have a 318 swingweight, according to TW. They are both 98 sq. inches with 27 standard length. Both have the 18 X 20 string pattern. Both have a 63 stiffness index rating.

The Dunlop 4D 300 Tour is 5 points head light, compared to the YT Prestige MP 7 points head light. Also, the 4D 300 Tour has a slightly thinner beam width of 20 mm and is 11.3 oz. in weight compared to the YT Prestige MP weight of 11.8.

I'm very curious about a few things.

1) If the YT Prestige MP is .5 oz. heavier and has more power than the 4D 300 Tour when looking at TW's "power map", why is it considered a "low" powered racket and the Dunlop considered a "low-medium" powered racket by TW???? It makes no sense.

2) What is it about the Dunlop 4D 300 Tour that causes most to give it a better score for "touch/finesse" than the YT Prestige MP?

3) Which do people think is the better serving racket? Better for topspin?

Any thoughts about the main differences would be appreciated. Thanks a lot!

Just bought the 4d 300 Tour today (BTW got a great deal so look around) so u kinda know what I like. Never actually demoed the Youtek.

Your first point is dead on. Im sure there is a reason but I have no clue why heavier frames are listed as low power where a frame like the 4d 300 tour is listed as medium. I demoed a bunch and all these "player sticks" have far more power IMO.

From my first swing of the 300 tour I fell in total love! I hope it lasts and it doesnt turn out to be lust. If you are looking for a frame that plays like the 4D300T try the kblade tour. more demanding and more power, but very very nice as well.

I have the 300 tour as well, great racquet. Keep in mind, I have two, both came in almost 1/2 oz heavier, strung, then advertised. I don't know if that was just my two, or if that might be a trend.

Are you saying your 4d300t is 11.8oz?

Yes, and both are within 2 grams of each other. The balance was about right at 5.5 inches HL. With overgrip & dampner they are 11.95 oz, 338-340 grams. They were purchased at two different places. Could have been a particular run. They do play sweet though.

That is very interesting. Im going to get mine strung up and weigh it.

Hey, have you ever hit with a leather grip with this racket? What strings do you use?

Never tried the leather grip. I have one racquet strung with Pacific Classic Gut in the mains and Topspin Cyberflash in the crosses, very nice solid feeling stringbed, lots of contol and power. The other is strung with the new MSV Hepa twist in the mains, and Gosen OG in the crosses. Lots of bit and spin, and incredible power, almost too much, probably needed to string that one one a little tighter. As far as the co-polys go, I think I like the Signun Pro Tornado the best, will probably go back to that instead of the Hepa twist.

It's odd that yours are so heavy, although Cyberflash is 5-7 grams heavier than a typical synthetic gut or multifilament. My 300 Tours weighed 11.3 oz with synthetic gut, and with Cyberflash plus leather/overgrip tip the scale at 11.9 oz.

The 4D 300 Tour is a great racquet. Felt good stock, would probably be even better with a bit more weight. Not sure about the flexiness though. Would you guys say it was more flexy than the AG100?

The 4D300Tour is a great racquet indeed. I've hit with a MG Prestige MP, and it's a good racquet too, very similar in almost every aspect, but the feedback you get gtom the Dunlop is way better, at least IMHO.

I'm using TW letaher grips and it feels awesome. First time using leather, I don't know why I didn't try it before. Thought I wouldn't like it, but hey, it's great!

I'm also playing with 3g @ 3 and 9, it improved the plow through a bit, without making the racquet too heavy. After I get used to the new weight, I think I'll increase the weight bit by bit.

I would like to read more unbiased opinions.
In reviews (as long as they are other people opinion) TW rated the 300Tour better than the HYPMP.

Dadozen (com todo o respeito irmão) a guy with the dunlop logo avatar talking good things about dunlop is a little bit suspect ;)

Hi All,

I've also being comparing these racquets along with the radicals as is easier to lead up a radical than to reduce prestige's weigth...... can anyone compare the Dunlop 4DTour with the Radicals

However, remember they were not side by side comparisons. The Dunlop was reviewed at a much earlier point in time and so the side by side ratings might be different by the reviewers. The reviewers for example, did a side by side comparison of the 3 prestiges.

I'm totally suspect:D

But you asked for opinions, and coincidently I tried the MGPMP... Not sure if th YTPMP plays that differently.;)

Thank you dadozen. I'm thinking about choosing it over the HYPMP and put some lead at 3 and 9 and my leather grip with a tacky overgrip.

The YTPMP plays much better then the MGPMP, that's a well known fact among Head players and Coaches. And in comparison to the 4d300T, the YTP has alot more power, hits a slightly flatter ball, is a much better serving stick, overall the Prestige is better. The one thing the 4d300T has over the YTP is a soft feel, that's it!

Most of the Head sponsored coaches in my area either play with a PC or now a YTP, all of em didn't really like the MG at all. The few players in my area sponsored by head (like me) did like the MG but saw a big improvement in the new YT, same as me. But you are right it is an opinion. Sorry but I don't give out my, my coaches, or my friends names.

Hey man, you can check my review here:
http://tt.tennis-warehouse.com/showpost.php?p=3540773&postcount=1999

It's been a while now, so some opinions have changed.

For example, today I'm using TW leather on all of them, along with 3g @ 3 and 9. It plays a lot better, plow through is amazing, even for such a light racquet. Torsional stability has improved a lot with only 3g, although my plan is to raise that amount when I get used to the weight.

Now my racquet has similar specs to the YTPPro, but with a 18x10 string pattern. Actually, I thought about getting one of them, but what's the ponit of having similar racquets? Then I changed my mind and I'm looking for a pair of AG100s, to have an idea of its classic feel.
