4G Rough vs. ALU Rough tension differential?

I have a client that normally uses ALU Rough at 48 lbs. in an 18x20 pattern. Recently, they've wanted to try 4G Rough as they like Luxilon's rough offerings, but want a little better tension maintenance. I've only played regular 4G, and 4G soft, so I have no idea what 4G Rough plays like, though I've made the assumption that it'll play softer than its regular counterpart they way ALU Rough does. For those of you with experience, what should I string his racquet at? (he's given me the liberty to decide). I was thinking 44, but if any of you have experience with both strings, what would you suggest?
 
I think it is good to try a similar string at the same tension as the normal setup for reference to see how it feels and adjust if needed for later string jobs. That way, it will be easier to compare string properties and base future decisions regarding tension off that info.

4G Soft is stiffer than 4G. 4g Rough is 4G with the dimples. 4G is much stiffer than ALU, any of its iterations. 4G also does not lose tension as quickly as ALU or as much. 4G family plays much more muted than ALU because the string is stiff. It also vibrates for a shorter period than ALU. I have clients using Prestige MPs using 4G or 4G Rough at 46-48# ref tension.

This client already knows that 4G is a stiffer string and wants to replicate a similar feel t ALU Rough at 48. Stringing at 48 with 4G would defeat that purpose.

Not sure where you're coming up with 4G soft being stiffer than 4G? I have experience with both strings in full beds and various hybrids with 4G variations in both the mains and crosses, and 4G soft has never bothered my arm the way 4G does.
 
The Compare Strings tool on TWU has been a great help as I’ve tested strings lately. 4g was way too stiff for me but I found 4g soft to be a nice change from the softer poly’s I’ve used forever. Per TWU it appears that 4g rough is slightly stiffer than Alu Power Rough
