Needless to say I'll go with LAR next week, Also agree on KC and NO, but I'm leaning towards the Patriots. NE looks a bit shakier this year than most, but I have a hard time picking against them at home (even though I want them to lose every game they play), and after a bye.
Anthony Lynn and his DC Gus Bradley put 7 DBs on the field 98% of their snaps, all but one play. While Bradley took the bullet in Jacksonville as HC, he was the architect of the Legion of Boom before leaving that crew to Dan Quinn when he left for the Jaguars top spot. He’s going to dial up some good stuff for TB12 & Co. to at least keep them in check enough for Rivers & Co. to have time to pick apart that horrible Patriots defense (22nd in the league in pass defense despite 6 games vs Miami/Buffalo/NYJ).

Trubisky had 4 dropped interceptions and scored 1 TD against one of the worst secondaries in the league. Foles drove the length of the field and won with no running game against the No 1 defense in the league
You obviously are allowing your bias to cloud fact:

Trubisky: 26/43 303 yards 1 TD 0 picks and QBR 89.6

Foles: 25/40 266 yards, 2 TDs 2 picks and QBR 77.7

I reiterate: Trubisky did not lose the game for the Bears as you called out first-time QBs. He played just as clutch as Foles did. His team lost because of a double doink.

Go ahead, take Luck. I’ll stick with Mahomes, whose big game meddle is already veteran like.

I never said he lost the game for the Bears. I only said I don’t trust first time playoff QBs

People were saying that this game was supposed to be an easy win for the Bears. Putting up 15 on our defense and scoring only one offensive touchdown is abysmal. They could have very easily found the endzone on some of those other drives, and they couldn’t.

This is where stats fail you. You’re playing at home against a team whose secondary consists of 80 percent back ups and you score one offensive TD. That’s on Mitch

Trubisky was subpar against a decimated secondary and has faltered when his defense couldn’t carry him. Foles was good enough against the best defense in the league who held the high flying Rams offense to 6 pts. End of story

I don’t think Bradley has the personality to be a head coach, but maybe he learnt from his time with the Jags. I’m not sure we’ll get the chance to find out. He’s always been a very good DC though, you’re in safe hands with him for sure.

As for Trubisky, I thought he played well, a lot better than I expected. The occasion didn’t look too big for him, made some difficult throws, wasn’t afraid to air it out. His pass on the final drive to set up the FG was impressive when the season was on the line.

"Defense wins games" is a bit of an oversimplification.

With the game on the line, we just saw the Eagles offense, with its backup QB, march down the field for the game-winning TD, against the NFL's #1 rated Bears defense.

The best part about the bears losing is they could have had the Vikings at home but they chose to play Saint Nick.

I’ve also predicted the eagles to lose every playoff game going back to last year and haven’t been right yet :(

Ill take the 6 points having only picked 1 winner.

I'm gonna need one heck of a rally and probably pick a couple games against my gut.
A lot of us in the same boat bcoz of the tipped/missed dub doink. @Feña14 was the big loser bcoz he had Chicago and would have landed on the magic number if it bounces in.

Cody is taking a lot of heat from Bears fans but coaches and teammates support him. Is there any chance the Bears keep him on?

I think his Bears obituary was written on the first five doinks he committed earlier in the year. I’m surprised Chicago stuck with him before the playoffs. He’s toast now.

The irony...he kicked for Philly and in his rookie year set a record for rookies with 150 points and made the Pro Bowl.

Double irony...the tip made by the Eagles on the fail kick was made by a guy named Hester.

Yeah, agree. You need some sort of offense to win games too. Defense alone doesn't win games or championships, especially not in this era where long passes lead to pass inference calls of 40-50 yards and you can't touch the QB.

Trubisky was average. He didn't impress me yesterday. That's all I'll say about that.

We'll see. Hope you're right. LAC is the toughest opponent NE will have played all year, home or road IMO. They certainly have a good chance.

Now if it comes down to NE and KC, I'll pick KC all day, and twice on championship Sunday.

Glad I didn't have money on any of these games. Hard to have picked all 4 games totally wrong. Guess I can't do much worse.

How many points would it of been if I had got them all correct? Confidence factor of 4 too

I think my expectations were very low going in, I wasn’t expecting much from him at all. Lots of defense, run the ball well and a few trick plays were what I was expecting.

I felt he more than held his own after a nervy start, though. Still not sure he’s good enough long term, but I saw enough to suggest he could be a good one.

Again, our secondary is decimated. Dak put up 455 yards on us. DAK

Scoring one TD at home in a playoff game against rookie/backup cbs is abysmal

You would have gotten the max 14 points on one fixture, a net gain of 13 points.

I’m now worried they won’t get to the NFC Championship game there, thanks to the above prediction.

After the bloodbath this past weekend, I'm due for a good weekend of picks for this divisional round. I think the key will be not watching the games. I watched every game this weekend and they all turned out horrible. I think I'll plan some other events for this weekend to keep myself occupied and busy so I can just check the scores afterward.

Nowhere to go but up..... for the both of us. :D

If your expectations were low that's understandable. I will say I'm biased towards QB's that are above average throwers. I'm not really liking the new breed of QBs that are great athletes and can run like the wind, but are below average throwers. And I don't think it's a coincidence that all of them lost on WC weekend (but I exclude Russell Wilson, and even Dak has impressed me on occasion).

NFL (playoff) football comes down to officials flags (or non-flags) at key moments.

Tim Donaghy made this all as clear as could be. The fact that fans have chosen to not believe / ignore him, is a staggering achievement by the NBA.

The QBs making their fiorst playoff start were not very good that's for sure.

Does that mean Mahones is screwed? Or does he and that offense transcend all that but still lose to the Colts because Colts O-line and Lucks quick short passes mean he never gets sacked.

Officiating can be and often is a determining factor no doubt. I believe some calls are made to make games closer than they ought to be tbh. Like an NHL ref evening out the penalties or the NFL refs this postseason who have screwed up numerous times already. Mostly I try to ignore it, but that's easy for me where the NFL is concerned since I don't root for any particular team.

Mahomes is in a different class IMO. If you look at all the first time playoff starters that lost, none of them touch Mahomes when it comes to arm strength and accuracy. The kid has a laser for an arm. My prediction is that they'll put up 30+ points. It only depends how their own defense holds up against the Colts offense.

Chiefs D will be the question. I think Luck and Mahomes will put up a shoot out and it will come down to a defensive play for either side

Vegas is definitely expecting more offense this week...opening O/U’s show the lowest total (LAC at NE, 48) equals the highest total from WC weekend. Could be wet in LA and will be cold in Foxboro. KC will be a balmy 42F.

Chiefs D is weird. Lead the league in sacks and perform respectable against the pass but get gashed by the running game. Indy O-Line has been best in the league by far especially during the 2nd half of the season. Luck just don't get sacked or even pressured.

They've been weird for awhile under Sutton. For 4 years they were no lower than 7th in points given up, but teams could move the ball easily against them. They were the ultimate bend but don't break team, basically. The last two years they've not been able to keep it up, which is understandable I guess. Playing that way isn't all that sustainable.

It'll be interesting to see what they do with him if it's what costs them in the playoffs.

Maddox was shaky against Bears. Eagles have a huge problem if Brees starts picking on this rookie like Bears did. Might want to consider replacing him to shake things up (if they even have anybody) or rotating him in. Otherwise, he really needs to step up his game against Brees…(n)

Divisional Round Weekend:

Indianapolis at Kansas City (-5.5) O/U 57

Dallas at LA Rams (-7.5) O/U 49.5

LA Chargers at New England (-4.5) 48.5

Philadelphia at New Orleans (-8.5) O/U 50.5

Remember the order of games played and my preferred template. Thanks!

I'm assuming the Cowboys are not almost 8 point road favorites and you just missed a dash. If the cowboys are infact favorites I still like the Rams.

KC, no cover, under, TP 52, CF2
Rams, cover, over, TP 52, CF3
Chargers, no cover, over, TP52, CF1
Saints, cover, over, TP 52, CF4
