For the purposes of this interview, @stringertom agreed to speak in English instead of their language for the benefit of the readers. Well, it's not 100% in English, but hey, he tried!

What's your noodle story? When did you start playing? How often do you play these days?

I began playing in 1975 with a wood racquet but soon moved to Head Arthur Ashe composite and then Head Vilas, the first wood racquet (thin graphite ply in the middle) with a throat like modern racquets.

I don’t play at this time due to my extreme exertion on the bicycle seat for as many as 7 days a week. Eye am knot good enough to earn a living on the courts but if @Turbo-87 were my marketing guru, maybe he could mine the merchandising angle and split the prophets, know?

In the past, you've mentioned stringing noodles for pro players like Sampras. Do you have a favourite noodle stringing memory?

My favorite racquet stringing gig was the training camp in Orlando where I met Sanchez Vicario and Spirlea in the mid-90s. I also liked my stringing gig at the Futures tournament and met some great guys struggling to move up to ATP. Victor Estrella Burgos only used the Estrella surname back then so we had a running joke about the two of us being long lost brothers because Estrella means Star in Spanish and my last name is Starr.

Love it! Any other good stories you'd like to share?

Jimbo Connors once gave me a free lesson in proper leather grip hygiene.

I was moonlighting as a security guard at The National Tennis Center and was assigned to escort him to his practice court on Day 1 of the Davis Cup tie in July 1981. Once we got to the court I took a position at the net post area. Jimbo came over and doused his racquet handle with water from the court side cooler. I was a bit stunned and asked him, “Water on your leather grip?” He said, “Well, I gotta clean it before I practice.” He then took a fresh towel and dried the grip and showed me the big stain of dirt on the towel.

I never thought to do that because I was always using gauze tape on the grip instead of bare leather.

Do you have a favourite racquet/string setup?

My choice of strings if I were playing would be a nattie gut main/Signum Pro Tornado Poly Cross hybrid in a Head Youtek Prestige Pro (56/52) but my racquet sits in my closet right now strung with the similar Wilson Champions Choice setup.

If you had to guess, who would win the Slams in 2021?

Jannik Sinner will win CYGS in 2021. OK, maybe 2022 because of the walrus.

KFC or Popeyes?

Popeyes Chicken Sandwich FTW

Really entertaining.
Tom was my first Prediction League doubles partner and kinda introduced me to the SDL etc. I think he still holds the ATP SDL record for most titles won.
