Impossible to say, the obvious choice is Wawrinka himself but I'm actually gonna go with Berdych. He's improved a lot in the last month or so, got 2 easy matches until the 3rd round where he faces Cilic/Zverev both of which could be upset early due to playing in 250's a week before. I don't see Wawrinka going through his first 2 matches against solid clay courters and even if he does Berdych can beat him.
Verdasco is the dark horse in this section, I predict him to beat Zverev and maybe do some damage later on.
I watched a couple of his matches this year and by far the 2 best matches he's played were those against Gofifn. For whatever reason he likes playing David.
Well you can see it in every stroke and seems to be the nature of these head to heads where one player just likes hitting the ball coming off the other racquet.
Cilic is in strong form and just bested Berdy in MC. Zverev I'd normally favor as he's young and this is clay, but hard time seeing him beating Cilic (Dasco pretty old, but playing well on hard courts this year.

) Zverev showed some real sparks of brilliance in his match yesterday, but Madrid will be his 4th week in a row on tour.

Cuevas is in form and just beat Wawa. Never played Sock before, but if he gets by that match he could do very well and come through. Cuevas has never played Cilic. Cilic playing well and then he hits the wall of late and can't get the ball in (literally saw him against Schwartzman nearly put a forehand sitter into the cameraman on the fly.

) Cuevas is fresh and in form so it could be him versus Cilic of Berdy. Berdy 1-1 versus Cuevas. Cuevas top ten clay court player right now so Bendych will likely submit.
