Huh, wins that fast should only count as half a match. Putting Fed's total at 954 or so. So still has some work to do to reach 1,000! :)

I wonder how many of his matches have been 90 minutes and under. That goes a very long way to explain his longevity + his playing style.

best starter in tennis history..never seen a guy on his chair up 3-0 in ten minutes more often...not so much in recent times, but before that it happened a lot

It is staggering to note 11 of those "quick fire" wins have come since 2014, including top players like Gasquet, Rosol, etc.,

Looks like all elite players made it to the list - Rafa, Agassi, Krajicek, Roddick, JCF, Murray, Delpo, etc.

Interesting tool. Big Four records in matches under 60 minutes:

Federer: 93-8
Djokovic: 34-0
Murray: 19-4
Nadal: 13-3

This.

I often noticed even when the score is the same Roger takes much less time.

Rafa can win 6-1 6-1 but still takes 1:20 min, roger winning with the same score takes only 50 minutes. Also roger barely takes time between serve.. he is always hurried to finish the point.

for example Rafa has converted baguels (6-0) in 79 matches and he is 77-2 in them, but still most of them take over an hour of time.

Roger has bagueled his rivals in 85 matches (85-0). So the difference is not the score but the style of play.

Hi falstaff78:

I'm not sure if someone has already done this, but if not, I wonder if I can plant this seed in your brain, given that you are interested in statistics.

If one can quickly grab the "Time" column from tennis abstract, and compute the total time spent on court over an entire career (exclude Davis Cup matches and games played before turning pro), that would generate some useful statistics for the top players, for example:
1. Total match time for first 100, 200, 300, .... matches.
2. Total match time for first 100, 200, 300, ... victories.

I wonder if this may give us an indication of longevity, i.e., a player can play at prime levels for a certain number of hours over his career. I realize that it is an oversimplification, but it may be a useful aggregate statistic nevertheless.

If someone has already done this, I'd really love to read their findings.

Beating Nadal in under an hour has to be one of the toughest feats in tennis given his gross time wasting practices.

that means Federer must've held all his service games very quickly without Rafa getting many points on his serve

I did see some stat that roughly three quarters of his 1000 wins have been straight setters. Pretty amazing, I think.

WHAT???
3 sets and 21 games in 54 minutes?

This is madness. That must be one of the shortes 3-setters of all time. Open era at least.
it includes: (3+4+3) * 90sec changeovers and 2*2 minutes set-end breaks. So almost 20mins of sitting...what the hell...

How long was murrays 6-0,6-0,6-0 vs the Luxembourg-player in the Davis Cup?

Federer's level on grass in 2004 was flat out ridiculous at times.

For me the impressive is Jun‑2004 Wimbledon Grass R64 1 138 (1)Federer d. (Q)Alejandro Falla [COL] 6-1 6-2 6-0 0:54. A best of five set match in under an hour is insane!
