93p modification

Hi, looking to do some modifications on my 18x20 93p. What are some modifications you have done for the 93p that you recommend trying out? Thanks in advance

Adjusting string tensions is all I’ve ever done. Perfect balance and swing weight for me. Just like lower tension thin strings to amp up the power a bit.

I like a heavier frame so for now 8g in the handle and 8g in the head. 359-361g strung. Gonna do specific mods when I purchase 2 new ones

I tossed some lead around 10 & 2 and immediately took it off after one session. Balance felt off without also adding subsequent weight in the handle. I think tinkering with strings is more the way to go with this frame.

What works best for others may no necessarily be best for you. You should Have an idea of what you’re trying to to with your modification on the racket. I would prefer add mass in the head somewhere under the bumper guard and in the handle under the grip or over wrap. Once I find what I like best I can place the mass under the bumper and grip. I would advise raising the SW or Inertia in small increments to begin with. If you place weight in the head place the same amount of weight in the handle so the the weight and distance above and below the balance point is the same. This way the balance remains the same. Assuming you racket has a balance of 31.5 cm (strung) you could easily place your weight 30 cm above and below the balance (1.5 cm and 61.5 cm.) Now all you need to do is to calculate how much lead you need. Assuming you want to add 3 SW point you could use the I = mr^2 formula to get the weight needed. 3 = m*30*30 = 3.33 g or .00333 kg. If your using 1/4” lead tape I’ve found 1 g is 11 cm long. So 3.33*11 = 36.63 cm.

You need to divide the strip of lead into 5 sections one 18.3 cm (1/2 the lead strip) and four 4.6 cm long (1/8 the lead strip.) Place the long strip under the over wrap or grip and the 4 smaller section inside the head 2 of each side. You’ll end up with the same balance and +3 SW. From there you should get an idea of where you want to go.

I felt stock specs were too headlight and not enough twistweight. Made the following mods:

- Switched the leather grip with synthetic (Prince ResiThin).
- Added 4g of lead at 3/9 o'clock.

Really didn't like the racquet before, like it with the mods.

I added a small amount to 3 & 9 to increase the TW, stability, and the SW (slightly). Then I added some weight at 7" above the butt cap and an overgrip. Strung it with Hyper-G 1.15mm @ 48M/45C... was comfortable (but could have been a smidge softer), played great, excellent depth-of-shot, a scalpel. Next time I will string at 45M/ 42C.

My 2018 93P actually came in over spec. The SW was 338. Didn't feel the need to mod mine as it still swung fairly easy due to the balance 8.5HL (spec is 9).

This is the modification I would make if I owned one, minus the lead. If I had one close to spec I would remove the leather grip, reducing the weight by 10g and moving balance more head heavy. Then it would come in at same weight and balance as my PS90 Asian version, but with higher twist weight.
I am tempted, it's a really cool looking racquet.
