A 2014 Wilson Pro Staff 97 question

Hi Everyone,

I've just bought a used 2014 Pro Staff 97 with the Sony sensor and the red cap. Everything looks fine except the inner grip which is made of synthetic material but bo leather and the former owner claim that he has never replace the grip.
I used to own a 2014 Pro Staff 97s which come with leather grip and I remember the whole series should be the same.
Now I'm wondering was there a spacial or latter version of the PS97 come with synthetic grip or this racquet is a fake?

That’s what I thought too! The RF97A did come with leather, but I do not recall the PS97 with oem leather grips.

That’s what I thought too! The RF97A did come with leather, but I do not recall the PS97 with oem leather grips.

It's been such a long time... I've found pictures of the PS97 2014 with leather grip and black cap. I don't know if they changed the grip when added the Sony sensor on the latter version...

As @snoflewis said above, PS97 (2014 red/black) came with burnt orange color synthetic base grip, which looks like leather but it’s just a regular synthetic grip…I still have three PS97 2014

Thanks! But as you can see in the picture mine is black...and the former owner said he has never replaced the grip...

the pro staff has never come with a perforated grip. Also that grip is wrapped up higher than factory.

So basically the seller lied or didn’t remember they changed the base grip. As others have mentioned, the OG PS97 never came with leather and had a syntec grip that looked like leather…

Yes, the grip is really strange. I used to own V11 and V13, never see this kind of grip before...

Almost positive it did NOT come with a leather grip. That was reserved for the RF. However, this is not the original grip, because they don't come with tape that has Wilson printed on it.
