Any thoughts on Jiri The Giant Vesely? He made the 4th round of Wimbledon in 2016 and also beat Djokovic in Monte Carlo that same year.
This will be the first big serving big man Nadal will be facing in the first week. They met only once before on clay which Nadal won in a surprisingly tough encounter. This time they could meet on grass...

Is Nadal losing at Wimbledon really considered an “upset” anymore? Maybe it was back in 2012 but it’s common now.
 
I don't know, I think Nadal makes at least the QF this year. He's coming in from a successful clay season, and the conditions seem to be good for him with the heat - more solid ground, higher bounce etc. Wouldn't bet my house on it, obviously, given his results in recent years, but I wouldn't count him out either.
 
Vesely has been in the crapper ever since that nice Wimby'16 run. This week he has looked decent and I think he deFog's the draw. If he does and The Nadal advances as well, it's 4R on the Middle Monday, not first week.

Could be Muller all over again if Jiri plays his very best.
 
Don’t overestimate him. Vesely isn’t that good. Djokovic was abysmal in that Monte Carlo match.

The one to take out Nadal will be either Delpo, Ziraffe, Federer or no one.
 
I think Fognini will be a big problem to Nadal if he beats Vesely. For some reason, Fognini seems to enjoy playing Nadal and is not too afraid. Strange, because Fognini shouldn't be too much of a problem to Nadal, but I think it's all psychological after their little rivalry a few years back. Then, of course, with Federer, you just never know when his age will get the better of him. He may stay fit and well the whole 2 weeks as well. Things are so unpredictable with Federer these days.
 
I'd much rather have Vesely than Fognini against Rafa, considering the ladder has troubled him on many occasions.

Vesely shouldn't present too much of an issue- I still maintain that it's harder to upset Rafa at Wimbledon by ballbashing than by S&Ving. Only Rosol has really managed to do it.

Look at those stats! Vesely with an incredible 55 net approaches, 17 aces, 74% first serve percentage and 50% BPs converted.
This COULD be an epic! And it's happening on grass! Just in case anyone didn't realize, Jiri The Giant Vesely is a lefty!

This could be THE match of the tournament and the most likely for the upset. Jiri is in the zone! Lefty 6'6 powerhouse with a brutal serve and a ferocious net game. Exactly what Nadal was praying he wouldn't have to face. Reality has finally arrived. See you Monday :)
