WTF 2019 was one of the most epic editions of tour finals without a shadow of a doubt, a number of battles, calculations, dominations, comebacks and shot making encounters.
The highlight for me however was this one.
Amazing match from Roger, considering that he'd played quite mediocre tennis at the WTF since 2017 itself, and also in the 2 matches prior to the clash against Djokovic, he didn't play that well either; lost 5 & 5 to Thiem, and won 6 & 3 vs Berretini.
Amazing performance from Federer to secure no1 spot for his great friend, totally destroying Djokovic.
Maybe even Roger knew that it was probably his last ever good match. In the interview he says "it worked to perfection tonight, hopefully not for the last time, but even it didn't, it was all worth it". To me, this speech indicated his own instincts which indicated him that the end was near.
But even at the realistic end of his competitive career, Roger teamed up with his great friend and arch rival Rafa, carrying him to the no1 spot.
Great to see a friend carrying another.
