A lot of WTA players still jealous of Serena after all these years

I think Gisela Dulko and of course Venus Williams are the only WTA players who congratulated Serena on winning the French Open for the second time in her career.

Chris Evert seems fair in terms of her comments about Serena praising her success.

But Lindsay Davenport and especially Martina Navratilova seems extremely jealous of Serena's incredible success. Martina said she doesn't want Serena to reach her 18 grand slam singles titles.

I read an article, when Serena lost to Virginie Razzano a lot of women players were gathered around a television set laughing and were very happy she lost.

Not saying, Serena has to be friends with her fellow WTA players, but I don't think the general public realizes the resentment a lot of these women have for the Williams Sisters.

People wonder, why do Venus and Serena keep their distance from the other WTA players?

According to Serena's documentary in one heated moment prior to playing Victoria Azarenka in the third round the US OPEN 2011 she got mad at her hitting partner and friend Sasha. I am paraphrasing but Serena was upset that the practice session wasn't the level she liked. Serena said "they all hate me". And that stunned me, I was like wow, Serena really feels the other women on the WTA Tour hate her.

I know in the beginning back in the 1990s, Serena and Venus felt like outsiders because they are black women, but I was surprised, Serena felt the same way.

What's to like about someone who screeches "come on!" at ridiculous moments like when's she trouncing Vinci 6-1 3-0? It's louder than someone being mugged in an alley.

What's to like about someone who has a history of losing her rag at umpires when she's in danger of losing grand slam semis and finals? (happened at least three times that I can think of)?

What's to like about someone who never ever praises an opponent after losing? (most notably, she never once admitted Henin deserved to beat her, even when she beat Serena three slams running)

Great player, technically speaking, but horrendous advert for the sport. The sooner she retires the better.

ScotttleeSV, maybe to you Serena is bad for the sport but in terms of diversity she's the reason Madison Keys and Sloane Stephens and Taylor Townsend are playing tennis.

Serena Williams and her sister Venus on their own SAVED American women's tennis. Serena is the ONLY American tennis player in singles who is winning grand slams.

American men tennis is in the toilet no American man has won a grand slam in over a decade. And when Serena Williams retires, I am not sure the next generation has grand slam potential. I think a few American girls are good could reach top 20 not sure they are slam contenders.

Without the Williams Sisters USA women's tennis would never be this popular. The Williams Sisters also revolutionized women tennis they forced the other women to work out in the gym harder and work harder on their games.

The point of my first post was, I don't think the WTA is as friendly about minorities as the public believes. Most of the WTA players are from Eastern European countries which everyone knows has a lot problems with racism.

Just wondering, if you also complain about Maria Sharapova shouting come on? Sharapova shoulds come on ALL THE TIME even when she's blasting opponents off the court.

Granted, Sharapova can be annoying. So can a million other people. Serena Williams is still a cretin.

OP, you need to join Twitter. Serena had a huge outpouring of congratulations from many players...most of them women. I guess it was beneath the notice of most of the ATP players.

Nah, the truth is America as well as tennis in general as well as other industries are more tolerant of Whites when they have "cretin" like attitudes if you will. Serena has had some melt downs on the tennis court, but let me ask you. If she played for 20 more years do you think she would have the amount of melt downs that say Johnny Mac had? When I say tolerant, I mean I've seen where different companies have given John endorsements basically making fun of when he use to terrorize umpires and opposing players. Before I ever picked up a tennis raquet the only thing I knew John Mac was he cussed our umpires.

So it's apparent that there is more tolerance toward's whites when it comes to so called unacceptable behavior but that is no surprise. It's been pretty much like that in society as a whole with everything. "it's not a problem until "colureds" do it". Then here comes the new rules.
