Which tennis player would you like to have as Roger's opponent in his last match of his career? Who do you think should send Roger into retirement? Should it be Djokovic or Nadal, one of the two greatest Fed rivals? Anyone from Next Gen or Thiem? Or anyone but Zverev?

You have two votes in the poll, one for a negative option ('Anyone but Zverev' or 'Anyone but Djokovic/Nadal').

Not a Federer fan but Federer/Nadal would be epic, i will always remember this duo and their epic clashes, clay GOAT and grass GOAT.

Nadal will be most probable result.
Not his generation but seems like biggest "friend" and rival.

Shouldn't be a Big 3 dude or a younger player who's balls hadn't descended yet when Fed last won a Slam.

I'd say some other veteran he's also friendly with or something.

Bagdhatis should come out of retirement to play an exhibition with Federer that will stand as a monument to Roger's peak period.

Should be Del Potro.

He sent off Roddick and Safin in a good way.
As for Roddick, I suspect that he lost the match with Delpo at USO 2012 on purpose, because in the next round Djokovic was waiting for him and Roddick didn't want, to make Djoker his last opponent. I don't have to supply, that they had a bad relationship between them and Roddick didn't want to give Djoker satisfaction.

should be one of the next gen, but the likelihood of it being Stefanos is just too painful to imagine and makes me want to weep. And so therefore by default it’s anyone not named Nadalovic

Yeah, that is a possibility. Djokovic had got the better of him in the olympics a few weeks earlier.

Are we talking a pre-ordained final stop in a retirement tour or the final humiliating defeat into retirement? Voluntary retirement tour: anyone that’ll make it entertaining.

Involuntary retirement: some random. Fed has stated as such: that the most just way to go out is to be put down by the next generation. He’s not going to enjoy it and doesn’t want it to happen, but that is the way to go. Maybe the Moose? About the only one I wouldn’t want to do it is another freakish Spanish prodigy ie Alcaraz.

Wimbledon final between Federer and Djokovic where Fed pulls it off against all odds would be the perfect finale.

Preferably the latter, in which he is crushed like a Swiss grape into a Robert Gilliard Dole des Monts Pinot Noir

Nadal and Djokovic would be kind of embarrassing matches for the old man at a Slam. Both are far too competitive to make it a feel good affair. They might play to the crowd for a few points but I don’t see it as this beautiful final send off, if either player tries then it will be straight sets and likely not very close.

Nadal would be great if it was at a 250 or something but given his health I doubt he’s going to play Basel…

Would be cool to see Fed play the young Swiss Stricker in Basel. Passing the torch. I’ll go with that. Failing that, someone like Murray/DelPo/Stan would be a lot of fun too.

A first round loss against a total nobody after a longer series of such losses, so there is absolutely nothing to regret. I would feel the worst if I would think he could have missed chances on more big titles.

Delpo was a definitively better player than Roddick by 2012. Andy pumped up full of adrenaline managed to serve well enough to steal a tiebreaker early on but there's nothing suspicious of him fading down the stretch after the the 2nd set, even with the day off.

It worked out for the best as Novak would've sent him out with bakery products, but I have no doubt Andy was still giving it his all to beat del Potro.

To me it doesn't matter. Agassi's last opponent was some journeyman named Benjamin Becker. Nobody remembers the final opponent of any great player with a few exceptions, like Pete's last match against Andre at the USO.

doesn’t really matter.

could be someone waaay younger like Sinner so it would poetically show how long Fed was around.
