A Thank You Message From Roger To His Supportive Fans! :D

Oui c'est moi.

Dear Fans

I would like to thank you for the overwhelming amount of messages and letters you sent me this past week. Losing the Australian Open final certainly hurt, but it is important to move on and focus on the challenges lying ahead. I feel fine and fit and am eager to get back on court. I have enjoyed a few days off, which was great, and will soon be training again.

Thank you once again for supporting me and giving me such a lot of positive input! A lot of you have noticed that my website was slow after the final Down Under. The reason for that was the enormous amount of traffic – more than we had ever experienced before. New hardware for the server has been ordered and will be installed as soon as possible so that you can enjoy rogerfederer.com without hassles in the future!

Kind regards
Roger
More than after Wimbledon or USO? Interesting.

I wrote something on his website after the loss. The first and only time I have ever done that to any player. So I'm not surprised. The site was indeed very slow. There were like 3 messages every minute. Glad he liked them :)

This guy is soo classy. You would think that he would issue a message after a slam win--but he issues a message after a Slam loss. This guy is reinventing class-I am just honored to watch Roger play tennis..He truly has been an inspiration to my life and how I live it. Thank You Roger..Thank You

Its not that classy its the least he could do after he crumbled in the 5th. How long did it take him to write that 30 seconds he was probably getting a massage whilst doing it as well.

How much do you think it's due to Roger seeming a little more relatable -- and therefore more fans able to "fan" him -- when he shows his human side, if you'll permit the expression?

I definitely agree that it's interesting.

McEnroe didn't beat everyone he played, but i would prefer to watch him over guys that beat him, anyday.
Same with Federer, i never get bored watching him play, he's an inspiration to me and millions of others around the world.

yeah he isnt going to change anything, great
You know what's really ' '? For Federer to not change anything he would probably still have a very good season. But i'm sure he'll rise to the "challenges lying ahead".

Yeah i agree. Trouble is some peope are stuck in a previous century and/or unreceptive to human emotions.
But i guess not everyone is the same. :D
Yes, i think in a strange way (or not) he has become more relatable.

On topic again. I wonder if Federer is going to change something in his game. I hope it won't be after the Wimbly loss when he was broken, and then lost to all kinds of players in 1st round of events. He can't allow himself that, he needs to do well at the coming events, especially when the clay season is coming soon and I don't see Federer defending his points from last year in this season.

Anyone remember what were his results in Miami and IW last year? Dubai?

Yeah i made a thread a while back about him possibly going on another match-losing streak straight after AO. I hope, since he learnt to live with it before, this time his response will be different (i.e. better).

Last year he lost to Murray in Dubai (first match). Then made the semis in IW, lost to Fish. He made the quarters in Miami, lost to Roddick.

^^ Good, he can gain some points in Dubai and Miami - not so much at IW though. He needs the points to stay far ahead of Djokovic and Murray.

Oh come on, give the guy a break. i am not a Federer fan, but he did have the decency to put these honest and less than flattering artcile from various worldwide newspapers on his site and I commend him for that.

Read them for your self.

Yes his site is excellent, I really doubt he takes care of the updates and news himself though. I'm pretty sure he has people managing the site for him.

Ahh come on man. I swear all the time when I play tennis. You can't get on the guys for saying ****. He aint a robot.

I read a couple of years ago that it was Mirka's mother that ran the site, but that may have changed. However it is obviouoly monitored by his business manager (Mirka) and if there was anything she/he didn't like it would have been removed.

I really do think Federer is a decent guy...he is simply a man on a huge mission (and none of us understand the magnitude of a huge will to succeed or we would not be wasting our time on messgaeboards) and the "so near and yet so far" that he's going through must, as he said, be killing him. Mentally, anyway. And it's not going to get easier.

lol, could you imagine both roger and rafa trying to put the pressure on the other throughout the entire year? Interviewer would ask each a question relating to who the favorite player is for that particular tournmanet and nadal would be like "Fed is the favorite, he's the best in the history no? Today I'm number 1, tomorrow who knows, no?" Fed would be like "Look, I mean, he has done well and has improved a lot , you know, and he's number 1 in the world, so yeah, it doesn't surprise me that he's the favorite you know." I would love it if they both said that before each grandslam.
That would be terribly funny, it would also be a clever way for Fed to neutralize the Nadal tactic that has been working so well for him so far... Unfortunately I don't think it's gonna happen

It's because NamRanger flipped a switch after the AO final and started going postal on some Federer fans.
He used to love Federer didn't he? He reacted to the AO defeat like a jilted lover lol :). Fell in love with Nadal, can't blame him for his excellent taste AND clever move as I truly believe Nadal is here to stay!
