Not saying she's not pretty, but really, that is an advanced GIRL'S serve.
And for girl serves, several top women have better form and results.
OK, excellent form and results for a GIRLS serve.
I'd bet she could improve her serve maybe 30% more if she wanted to work on that aspect of her game. Right now, she doesn't need it maybe, but if she wanted to dominate the women's tour, certainly a stronger serve with a more compact motion would be in order.
As you all know from throwing footballs, baseballs, rocks, whatever, the longest motion is the one with the most potential flaws.
Nice analysis. Bruce leaves out the position of the elbow at the end of the racket drop.. Maybe that is because the video at the frame rate misses it. However the statement on right shoulder up and over and not twist around alludes to it. It is hard to “twist around” if the elbow gets the right position.
I like the graphics.
Bruce is the man
It still boggles my mind how female tennis players are able to get away with such inferior technique.
They get away with it because they are playing other girls, they have great groundies, they really think of a serve as "starting a point".... not ending the point right there.
Female practice partners .... PeanutLouie, MarcieLouie, CeciMartinez, SusanBrown, DanaGilbert, IllanaKloss.
