A Wimbledon Trilogy between Djokovic and Alcaraz would be the perfect ending to the Golden Era of tennis!

Another trilogy like the one we had in 2006-2008 between Federer and Nadal but this time between Djokovic and Alcaraz.

It would be just perfect in every imaginable way. So let's fellow tennis fans hope it happens for real!

2023 Wimbledon Final: Djokovic defeats Alcaraz in 3 sets. In 4 sets also works since Karl is more talented than Bull.

2024 Wimbledon Final: Djokovic survives Alcaraz in a close 5 set match.

2025 Wimbledon Final: Alcaraz dethrones Djokovic in 5 or 4 sets and starts asserting his dominance over the men's tour. Djokovic declares 2026 as his last season at professional tennis.

Fingers crossed!

If it is like the 2006-2008 trilogy, does that mean Djokovic will retire 14 years after 2026? His pal Tom Brady played a contact sport till 45 - can Djokovic play pro tennis till 50?

What a joke of a comparison. Nadal was facing prime/peak Federer back then. By your scenario it means Alcaraz will lose to 36-37 years Djokovic, and then barely beat 38 years old Djokovic in 5 sets. This would mean he is the biggest joke in tennis history.

I believe Novak would sign in for this scenario without second thought.

Lol, if this happens then Alcaraz’s career will be asterisked forever
No, it would be the absolute opposite. He would have been the one to dethrone the outright Wimbledon GOAT then (9-time champion and 6-time consecutive champion in that scenario), denying him the 10th title. And imagine after that he would start his own dominance period. Everyone would celebrate that apart from very few "weak era" theorists in some online bubbles.

A 22 years old dethroning a 38 years old opponent after losing to him many times before? Even the most ignorant tennis fans should understand there is something wrong with this. Seems like some Djokovic fans (like you) just don't care about tennis at all, as long as Djokovic is the one who is vulturing.

Perfect ending to the Golden Era: one last Djoker/Murray AO final.

Not in the current times in sport in general. It's normal that careers at the absolute top last until the mid-30s or longer now. And if Djokovic really wins 9 Wimbledon titles, of course he is the Wimbledon GOAT. But that was just part of said scenario, not that I say it definitely will happen. If Alcaraz then beats him and starts his own dominance, of course that would be huge. To see an asterisk there is quite nonsensical. I also wouldn't understand the circumstances that should be "asterisked" then. I mean, do we expect Alcaraz to be compared to the Big 3 in totals one day or what? I don't see a GOAT candidate in him, just the one who MAY finally dethrone Djokovic.

And of course I'm no Djokovic fan. I always was a Federer fan, but I admit that after the circumstances of 2022 Djokovic has gained quite some sympathies in my view.

So Djokovic broke the rules (by his own decision) and so he gains your respect for that? Don't tell me stories, please. I don't see any reason for a non Djokovic fan to defend this not just weak, but weakest era in history. And yes, given the hype, it is horrible Alcaraz collapsed after 2 sets against a 36 years old. His future career is already asterisked, leave alone if he loses more BO5 matches to a very old Djokovic.

My new favorite Fed fan on this forum…apart from The Fedfather. I’m legally obligated to this.

waiting until Djokovic is almost 40 to dethrone him? This is not appealing to most tennis fans. He needs to start winning against Djokovic in slams soon. Hopefully we get to see some more showdowns between these two in the second half of the 2023 season.

This sound like a great way to pass the torch, Alcaraz can grow from strength to strength, and Djokovic and look to walk off into the sunset and close the door on his era.

If Alcuck doesn't beat egg in their next gs meeting he is officially a mug, you know he kinda has to do it quick not until egg is 40

Actually I think 36 yr old Djokovic is an age advantage over 20 yr old Alcaraz (at least in Djokovic case, most players don't have so much longevity). Djokovic has made his game much more complete and his serve easily its best ever in his thirties and has so much experience now tennis becomes easy knowing what to do. 20 year old is super inexperienced and hasn't had that chance to develop the skills so much over the years. And Djokovic is still super athletic at that age its not like he got slow, can still hit really hard, etc.

Why do people think this way? You need to start defeating a contender for greatest of all time in your super early twenties basically still a teenager? What? The only reason you'd need to do that is if you're looking to become the clear greatest player ever.

We need to frame and pin this post and tag all members of the Fedfam to view what a rational member of our fanbase is like. Apparently my example hasn't made a dent yet.

Nothing too impressive about beating a 38 year old when you're 22. Even Tsitsipas beat Federer in 2019 at the AO.

I mean, some people already did that: Fed, Nadal, Djokovic, Hewitt and Delpo. And the GOAT contender wasn't 36 in any of those times.

I hereby claim that Federer is about a million times more skilled than Djokovic but thwarted by having a billion times more difficult of a playstyle. There, is that better?

Doping man vs the Young Spanish Gun, i'm sure the Serbian can play 'til 48 at least with all the **** he has in his body, His pis s must be even more colored than Lance Amstrong one.

Like 26 year old Federer did? Or when 20 year old Djokovic straight setted Fed to win his first slam?
That was Federers mono illness year of all years in his career I don't care about 2008 Federer. No coincidence its mono year

At age 20 Djokovic barely scrapes by Oliver Patience at RG in 5 just physically outlasting him. Likewise at Wimbledon scrapes by Baghdatis in 5 set and 7-5 5th before retiring vs Nadal. Straight setted by Federer at USO.

Doesn't sound as good as 36 yr old Djokovic to me. Also has a way better serve now much more complete game smarter and more experienced. Athleticism doesn't make up for all that
