    1. Chrysochos
    2. Bogaerts
    3. Uspensky
    4. Mansouri
    5. Ho
    6. Seraphim
    7. Tabrizi/Kan

They could definitely win the ACC and challenge anyone at the top.

rubin just won the cville challenger (should bump him up over 200 spots to about 325 in the next ATP rankings) - i'm going to go out on a limb and say he's not spending more time on college tennis

Steve Johnson had a similar fall when he took off his senior year. I predicted he would not come back, but was wrong. I can see the difference in Rubin being a soph and not coming back versus a senior. I think you will be correct on this one, but we will see for sure in Jan.

    1. Petros - I think this is a definite
    2. Uspensky - He and Romo will probably go back and forth, but Romo has not played well this fall
    3. Bogaerts - If he can return to his form of last spring, he will be VERY good at 3
    4. Mansouri - He has played some good tennis this summer and fall - Futures, Davis Cup, and ITA Regionals
    5. Ho - Ho has also played some good tennis this summer and fall and should be VERY good at 5
    6. Seraphim - He owned this spot last year, with Tabrizi and Kan right behind him. Kan played as high as 2 as a Fr. so I'm hoping he can get and stay healthy. Tabrizi can also play some good tennis.

I'd like to think that this is a top 10 team. UVA will still be the favorite to win the ACC, but this team should challenge them. I would put UNC right there as well, with Duke down a notch this year. Unfortunately for Wake, they play both UVA and UNC on the road this year. Dubs will be key as well. I have to assume Skan/Seraphim will be back as a team, as will Romo/Kan, who played well together two years ago. Petros and Uspensky should be in there somewhere as well.

I agree with all of this. Bogaerts isn't playing well right now, and I could see him at 4 behind Mansouri. But, Bogaerts has shown before that he can be very, very good. If he can improve his footwork, endurance, and mental approach he could get back to 1 or 2. Mansouri has a lot of potential - he's 6'3" and has a solid build. He has played well this fall. Kan and Tabrizi make this a very deep team.

Jon Ho is into the final round of qualies in Champaign today against Chase Buchanan. That will be a tough ask for him but he had a nice win over #476 Marcus Willis in the 2nd round. I don't see Romo getting to play #1 this year over Petros, but I also don't see him falling below #3. The depth will come in handy. Romo was playing really well last spring before the NCAAs.

Jon just took the 2nd set 6-4 from Buchanan. Headed to a 3rd. If he and Mansouri play like this, they will be very good at 4 and 5.

Ouch, Altamirano's behavior in this 3rd set is pretty rough. Hope Boland gets him under check for the dual season

The meltdown really mounts at about the 28:30 mark when he cusses his opponent out and get coded. Gets worse from there as he basically quits in the tiebreak.

Did I miss his name in the rankings new rankings today? Hope he can get over whatever demons are eating him up.

He didn't play any college events this fall so he wasn't ranked.

That explains that. Wonder if he was enrolled during the semester. Regardless, I've heard Boland is really good at working with players that want to try to go pro after college.

Don't want to be judgmental not being there and not personally knowing the kid, but given the timing when it happened in the 3rd set TB is just plain ugly.

I was just told that UNC has really upped their indoor streaming system (feddy should be pleased). This weekend local airlines are texting passengers about the possibility of Raleigh-Durham airport being affected by ice storms so not sure if any ITA opponents will be affected. I live in the boonies so I may have to watch online if it goes ahead.

They're going to have PlaySight which is what Baylor, Ohio State, Virginia Tech, and a few others have - very nice HD feed. I was talking to someone at UNC this morning and they're hopeful to have it up by this weekend but they said it might not be ready. If they have it ready I think you'll have to pay for it kind of like Duke. I know NC State won't have any travel issues getting to Chapel Hill.

UNC women played today, i assume they play tomorrow. Could be a dangerous drive for me so I will see how it goes at game time.

Duke gets a walk-over tomorrow since Cal couldn't make it to Durham - they'll play the winner of San Diego/Vandy to go to Charlottesville

Cal still has a sliver of hope, but it would depend on there not being any play at all tomorrow due to weather. I think they could get here for Sunday

You'd think if Cal could make it on Sunday they'd just push it back a day to accommodate them.

The roads here are hell so Im just staying up with the scores here. Indiana's Canadians at 1, 2 and 3 are surprising and winning 2 of 3 tie break sets. Tar Heels got the doubles and should win pretty easily I think.

I guess, but they probably booked the flight in July, kind of tough to anticipate that a blizzard is going to hit North Carolina this weekend. San Diego just got lucky that they'd decided to come a day earlier. By the time the blizzard was forecasted, it was probably not possible for Cal to get enough seats on a flight getting in Thursday

Early reports indicate that the ACC is down this year. Louisville goes 0-2, losing to UCSB. Notre Dame goes 0-2. VT loses 4-0 to Stanford, Duke loses at home to San Diego. Clemson looks terrible.

FSU looks to be about the same as last year. NC State is maybe a bit improved. Hard to tell if their result vs UNC indicates Wolfpack improvement or Tar Heel decline.

Let's see how GT does against UCLA. They look to be improved.

I wasn't able to make it to the Wake-Tenn match yesterday. Doubles was obviously very close, but Wake just crushed them in singles. Anyone able to attend or watch online? Was Wake playing really well, TN poorly, or some combo of the two?

I watched most of it online. Wake was down in dubs and probably should have lost. Who knows what effect that had on singles. Tenn, in my opinion, is definitely down this year as compared to past years, but Wake is very good at singles. Romo at 4, and Dennis Ups at 5 are lethal against 99% of the teams in country. If Petros plays well he is going to be very good at #1. This weekend at Oklahoma will be a huge litmus test.

Thanks for the info. I watched the match against Auburn live and thought Wake's singles looked shaky, so I was surprised to see the dominant result against TN.

I was told that was the first time Chrysochos had ever played indoors plus Auburn's Hinnisdaels is a pretty good player - Petros got settled in nicely against Valero. Bresky knows Wake will be at its best outdoors.

Interesting. Thanks for the info. I guess the counter would be that Chrysochos has been practicing on those indoor courts for weeks and had played 4 actual matches (2 singles and 2 doubles) prior to the Auburn match, so he did have some experience on those exact indoor courts.

I think you're probably right too that Wake will be better outdoors than indoors, particularly Chrysochos and Bogaerts. Seraphim and maybe Mansouri might be better indoors players though.

The same person also told me that prior to January, Dennis Uspensky hadn't played indoors in a long, long time too though you could hardly tell from his results.

2 big matches for Wake this weekend - at Oklahoma State and at Oklahoma. Okie State just added PlaySight so they'll have free streaming starting Friday.

If Andrew Harris doesn't play for OU or if he does and isn't 100%, I think Wake has the horses to take them down. Chrysochos probably isn't going to be Axel but Skander Mansouri could beat a less than 100% Harris and probably would be favored against Spencer Papa if Papa played at 2 in place of Harris. If Harris sits and everyone slides up Wake would probably be favored at #5 and #6 and OU is never very good in doubles either. OU would be favored at 3 and 4 probably.

As crazy as it sounds the match with Okie State may be the tougher of the 2. Okie State is a solid team that's going to pick some higher ranked teams off this year.

I just read that Oklahoma is going to televise the Wake match with announcers on Fox Sports Okla and SoonerTV.

I went to the Oklahoma-Wake match last year and it was kind of close. Harris waxed Rubin. Romo played GREAT, but lost a super to Axel. Skan got DESTROYED by Dane Webb. Ho beat Papa winning the 2nd in a breaker, and then a super, after losing the 1st pretty bad. Seraphim won at 5 in a super i think, and Max Kan got hurt early on and lost easily at 6.

I have no idea about Harris's availability, but if he's out I'd think Wake will have a shot, especially at 3-6. I think Axel will be tough at 1, and I'd probably bet on Papa over Skan. Dubs will be key and Wake has not played good dubs this season. Should be fun.

Good win for UNC, the 3 unfinished all looked like Illinois could win so to close it out was clutch. Childers for Illinois was very petulant even by college tennis standards, the Illini number 3 was as fast as I have ever seen in a college player and the doubles point to 6 sucks.

Wake's got a real shot against Oklahoma - just won doubles and Andrew Harris isn't playing singles. Wake should be able to win at 5 and 6 - will be interesting to see if they can get 1 of the top 4.

Duke is going to need to turn it around quickly against Northwestern or they'll rack up another loss - what's happened to Nicolas Alvarez - can't win a match or even a set.

Wake won 4-0, though play is still going and it's 4-1 right now. Great effort by the Deacs. Bogaerts was up 5-1 in the first set and ended up winning 7-5, 6-1. I really think he is the key for the Deacs as a team this year.

The production on Fox Sports OK was great. I love being able to watch a match like that. The commentating was goo too.

Dominant win. Not a good performance from Oklahoma at all. This shows how good Oklahoma State is as well and gives more respect to TCU's win over them in the indoor kickoff.

I had time to go to the UNC-Texas A&M womens match today for the doubles only. After the anthems they all stood around and it was apparent there were no officials. They got someone from the crowd who I assume has an officials credential and she walked around while they called there own lines. I dont know if anyone showed up for the singles or if even at that point you would use them.

Ooof. The ACC went to centralized assigning for its officials for women's matches two years ago, and there have been a few hiccups in the process. This sounds like a pretty big one.

I'd give UNC the edge in dubs, and Wake the edge in singles. Alot of time between now and when they play unless they get matched up in a 2nd round match at indoors.

Update on the UNC-A&M match on Sunday. The A&M coaches wanted officials so the match was held up for 45 minutes until they were able to get some.
