The Yellow Jacket men continue to play solid into the season with a win against Notre Dame. If they continue to play this way, I expect them to get past Miami, VT and Boston College (easily). They're going to need something extra special against Virginia and North Carolina.

They look pretty solidly in the NCAA tournament right now. An upset loss to Miami could hurt them but they should still get in. Rakitt coming back string is going to be vital for them. if he can get back to form(I assume he had an injury of some type) then they can be a solid team

I remember hearing that Rakitt had a fall resulting in a concussion late Summer/early Fall of last year which limited both is training and match play. I think he's finding his stride again, but, given the strength of the rest of the team, I think he's better suited to anchor the bottom of the lineup. His game doesn't really have the firepower to bother stronger opponents at the 1, 2 and 3 spots.

My guess is he will play in both matches barring a setback on Friday. He's a top notch player, that's what they do. Then the question comes whether UNC keeps Kelly playing ahead of Murray or was that just a match-up thing or something they did to combat Schnur's absence.

UVA is running a different lineup now than they did during indoors: 1. Shane, 2. CA, 3. TSK, 4. Aragone, 5. Henrik, 6. Mac. Provides for some interesting matchups vs. UNC.

From what i can see, there will be no video streaming for UVA vs UNC? Is is correct that the #1 team doesn't have video? That would be surprising and unfortunate.

I am very surprised that UNC doesn't have video streaming capabilities. If I am a parent of a top recruit that is something I am curious about. Am I going to be able to watch my son or daughter's matches. I realize it is not going to be one of the main reasons, but it would certainly come up in conversation with me.

UNC upgraded their indoor video operation considerably but I believe nothing outdoors. Rain is forecast however! Not sure if it is a free stream.

UNC has had streaming for several of its home indoor matches this season - the first few were free then they started charging. TCU has been trying to get PlaySight but there's a lot of red tape that's been slowing the process down - maybe by next season hopefully.

I just talked to UNC's SID and he said there will be streaming through PlaySight if the match is indoors - if played outdoors no stream.

Rained a lot overnight but sunny and a little humid now so should dry I would think. 40% chance of rain by game time so who knows.

UNC take 2 tie breaks on 1 and 2 for the point. I still think they lose but this helps a lot.

Last year Baylor had UVA's number until the NCAA semis - wonder if it'll be like that with UNC this year. Schnur had only played a handful of matches in the last 45 days and he comes back and beats Shane after going down 2-0 in the 3rd. The Kelly/Aragone scoreline was surprising - both of the previous matches had been routs by Aragone but Kelly flipped the script today.

It was interesting that Ritschard's name was listed at No. 4 but then he got pulled. I have a feeling if UVA had won the doubles point he may have played which would have let Wiersholm and Aragone slide down a spot. After losing the doubles point Boland probably didn't want to take the gamble. Just my 2 cents.

Great win by UNC. Really surprised me the way they jumped on them in singles right off the bat. Shows how important the dubs point is. Boland was little snarky in his post-game comments I thought, and I am certainly no UNC fan, but they won.

I hope Wake can bring its A game and give UNC a battle. UNC is so strong at dubs.

1. Schnur-Mansouri - I think most people would give the edge to Schnur
2. Schneider-Petros - I like Petros here
3. Clark-Ho - This is a strong point for UNC against anyone
4. Murray-Bogaerts - I like Romo here but it will be close I bet
5. Kelly-Uspensky - I'd like to think Dennis would be favored, but Kelly has really turned into a good college player
6. Kodali-Seraphim - I like Seraphim in a close one

Am curious what others think?

I will get to go to the Carolina-Wake match so I am looking forward to it. I stopped making UNC predictions as it seems I am surprised each time.

Dubs - UNC 60%
1. Mansouri - 55%
2. 50/50
3. Clark - 75%
4. 50/50
5. Kelly - 70%
6. Seraphim - 55%

Great fight from Virginia though. It looked like it was going to be a UNC runaway early as they were leading on 5 courts. Then even late it looked like UNC was going to sweep the final 3 courts. So if Schnur Didn't finish that tiebreak vs Shane it looked to be no big deal because Schneider and Clark were closing. But UVA fought back for wins on both of those courts

Deserved win for WF, Carolina just ran out of gas in some third sets. Intense ending with some great tennis played.

Murray had two match points in the second set and doublefaulted on one of them. he started cramping early in the 3rd set. kelly fought hard but it seemed like he was always playing from behind in the 3rd. petros is the best player in the ACC. it's a clear stack to put him at #2.

Petros is 3-2 at #1 this season, including a loss to ETSU, while Mansouri is 10-3, so kind of hard to say it's a clear stack

true, but the 3 times i've seen petros play he's been far and away the best player on the team.

Petros is very good, no doubt. But he hung on for a 6-4 third set victory at 2 singles today. Claiming a stack is a bit odd. I've seen the team play a lot, and often Mansouri is the best player. As others pointed out, both have played at #1 and Mansouri has had more success there.

I might even agree with you that Petros is the best tennis player in the ACC, but I don't think it has translated to the college team environment to warrant the obvious stack comment. Petros has had a good amount of success at the pro level and Davis Cup matches but he hasn't won a huge #1 college match yet and Mansouri has been playing 1 for a while and has beaten a few top 20 players so yesterday alone wasn't a stack.

Yesterday was a tremendous match. Both teams are ridiculously good. Along with TCU, I'd put UVA, UNC, and Wake all in the top 4 nationally.

well, Schneider is a very good player and was playing at home. I haven't been impressed with Mansouri when I've seen him play. He got embarrassed by Shane at the ITA indoors in about 30 minutes. he didn't look great against Schnur either and Schnur has struggled with injuries and play all spring.

I have had questions about Skan at #1, especially after the Ryan Shane match, but the flip side is he has beaten Felipe Soares from Texas Tech and Ben Lock at FSU in straights. He beat Monterio of VTech, and Llamas of Oklahoma in 3, all top 30 players. Petros top win is probably the beat down he put on TSK at UVA.

This loss hurts UNC bad. It looks like they will end up tied for 3rd with FSU and lose the TB so they will get the 4th seed and have to play UVA or Wake in semis instead of finals.

Boston College pick up a point at 6 singles but go down to UNC 1-6. They are now 0-10 in conference, their football and men's basketball also won zero conference games this year.

On the positive side I saw their women's team play today and although they lost they wore the cutest uniforms and had a few stunning looking girls. Feddy would be impressed.

I hope you're a girl because otherwise this is super creepy

Jaggy, I was watching the live scoring on that UNC/BC women's match (senior day). Can you provide any informationon why BC had two courts retire ? One after winning the first set?

Wake-UVA today at 3pm outside in Charlottesville. UVA won 4-3 indoors early in the year with it coming down to a 6 singles, where UVA won 6-3 in the 3rd. Wake won the dubs point, and courts 2 and 4.

1. Skander - Shane - rematch of a lopsided match - I think UVA wins here again
2. Petros - TSK/Colin - Petros won 6-1 in the 3rd vs TSK - I think Wake wins here again
3. Ho - Colin/TSK - Colin won relatively easily in January. TSK has beaten Ho in years past. - UVA wins again here
4. Romo - Henrik - First new matchup. Romo beat Mac in two tight ones. It is possible that JC plays here instead. - I'll give it to Wake
5. Seraphim - JCA - JCA won easily vs. Dennis in January, and beat Seraphim in ACC finals last April - TOSS UP COURT
6. Dennis - Mac/Luca - I think Dennis beats either one, but should be close.

Dubs point will be key, and UVA has been stronger there this year than Wake. I'll give the match to UVA 4-3/5-2.

Any other opinions?

Really looking forward to the match today. I agree with your takes. I do think Skander has a chance at one, as he is playing better now than he was during the indoor season. JCA seems like a bit of kryptonite to Seraphim, so it will be interesting to see if they match up again.
