FSU is not a gap up to Gtech. I think FSU is maybe even better.

amazing how worse the whole acc has become. Before 2years, Clemson, NC State, VTech and especially Duke+ND were really competitive

Georgia Tech beat FSU 5-2. It was a fairly one sided result.

The ACC is really strong at the top, with 3 of the top 4 teams in the country (UVA, Wake, UNC). GT, FSU, and Louisville are also in the top 35, and will have chances to move up. I think Duke will also move up the rankings as the year progresses.

You're kidding, right? GT just beat FSU soundly a couple of weeks ago by a score of 5-2 as Clemson_tennis mentioned. The doubles point , one of FSU's two points, could have gone either way. Also, Carlos Divar, a freshman lost to Jose Gracia of FSU 6-4, 7-6. Hardly a blowout. Divar, if he continues to improve and learns not to counterpunch so much he'll become a force at the bottom of the lineup for GT.

From the sources i have, he should be returning within the next week. Possibility he plays Friday at Wake. Not sure UVA is too stressed with any regular season matches anyway, as they have dealt with injuries in the past and taken losses. Seems like they only care about the big dance.

Agreed. They're steamrolling teams messing around with various doubles combinations (Wiersholm and Corinteli at 1) as well as rotating various guys at 5 and 6 that won't be playing singles come next month. I don't think UVA is worried one bit, and they're still my pick to win again.

Very excited for the UVa-Wake match today, but I have to say—looking at the records/results/etc., I can't see Virginia losing. I have them winning 5-2, which is admittedly based on some educated guesses on how the lineup will go. ITA rankings notwithstanding, here's how I see this going. Needless to say, doubles point is critical for Wake. Maybe playing at home helps them...

    Doubles results - UVA

    Corintelli/Wiersholm U. Seraphim/Mansouri, 5-4
    V. Kwiatkowski/Richard def. Gojo/Gadjiev, 6-3
    V. Altamirano/Aragone def. Chrysochos/Uspensky, 6-3

    Singles results - UVA
    V. Kwitakowski def. Chrysochos, 6-4, 6-3
    W. Gojo def. Altamirano, 7-5, 3-6, 6-4
    V. Ritschard def. Mansouri, 6-4, 6-2
    V. Aragone def. Seraphim, 7-6, 4-6, 6-3
    V. Wiersholm def. Uspensky 6-4, 6-2
    W. Gadjiev def. Corintelli, 7-5, 6-3

    UVA wins 5-2

UNC has a ranking Problem, Usta voting Panel votes them #4 since weeks..but ITA Rankings say they are #13 ....and they ve no good matches anymore
the acc is in a down year this year...only the Top3 are the cream of college Tennis plus Gtech on #18..FSU #33, Louisville #39
maybe home wins over GTech and Lville could bump them back up 2 or 3 places but never more
they ll Need to beat UVA or 'WF in ACCs..to climb back into Top 8

Any explanation for UVA's odd singles lineup against Richmond yesterday?

How hilarious would it be if Richmond challenged the lineup and was given a win for it? Won't happen but it certainly was a goofy lineup by Virginia. Boland probably wanted to test Ritschard as Dunbar is the one real good player for the Spiders.

One of my best friends went to the same club as Dunbar. He's from north east Ohio, about two hours from me. Both he and his older brother Ethan are great players.
I would assume that was just to give Ritschard a better match than almost anything he'll see until NCAA's?

UNC Duke women today was a great competitive event as always. Carolina wins 5-2 but it was a lot closer for a while. Daavettila at 2 singles was serving underhand on second serves which was a bit strange but she held a lot. Everyone raises their game for this so it was an enjoyable watch.

Unless UNC beats UVA in semis then they are going to pay the consequences of not playing a tough schedule. They are 12 now which means they will play #5 UCLA in sweet 16. It is possible they could get jumped by Oklahoma or others if they do not beat UVA.
