Accuracy and hitting the spots

When listening to other pros talking about Fed they often say how good he is in hitting the spots.

Besides the serve what spots do you think are most important?

Do you regularly practice accuracy?

For club player, all you really need is the ability to hit down the line from both sides and crosscourt from both sides. At the net, hit short angles. If you can be super accurate, well good for you. For most club players aiming for a spot, just aim for a general area of the court and giving yourself a couple of feet or more as a margin of error will be more than enough. That will be more than enough control to bother most opponents you'd meet.

I don’t think Fed can aim that spot out of the blue since the ease of aiming depends on ball incoming right angle, speed, spin of course your own technique. Those makes a huge difference.

of course nobody said that he can aim spots out of the blue.
still when you hear other pros talking about fed they say often that one thing about him.
I also heard an interview with fed where he says that when he feels good, he is trying to find the lines.

edit: not saying that we recreational players should aim for the lines.

Usually, it seems, they are just talking about how Fed hits his spot when serving. This is a way of explaining to the public how it is that Roger wins so many service games without the blinding speed and heaviness of a Sampras serve.
Other than serving, the spots are easy to list: Deep in the corner of the side your opponent is not on. If you notice that he's actually running to that open side, the spot becomes "behind him." If he calls your bluff by getting deep behind the baseline dead center, hit it to his feet and move in to volley...anywhere inside the lines, or hit a dropper. Personally, I just try to get the ball back...
