Achilles tendon recovery

Lately I've been playing a lot of tennis and exercising. About a week ago I played in a pickleball tournament (my 1st time playing in months) and didn't realize I'd be on the court over 4 hours. Afterwards I was surprised how tired my legs felt, but walked to a restaurant feeling tired and then my legs around the Achilles felt tight in the car.

Next day I played tennis and on the drive home I thought I was cramping.. The day after that I played tennis and it bothered me on both the drive over and back, but not at all on the court. Since apparently I'm a slow learner I played 1 more time and again had pain when driving there and back, but not on the court.

After that I rested and tried driving someone like 30 minutes away and after about 20 minutes both my legs hurt in the Achilles tendon area. Something about the angle in the car and working the pedals (I have a stick shift) hurts them. Now I'm resting and trying to avoid driving, but think it's odd I can jump and do everything without any pain, but if I lift my leg up at a certain angle or try to drive it feels like it's on fire after a while.

What does it sound like? Is my best bet to just rest it or should I ice or stretch or do any exercises?

Is it time to replace your shoes with a new pair? When my tennis shoes get 60-70 hours on them, they get loose enough where I have to tighten the laces and then this causes my Achilles (and plantar area) to feel sore or tight. It is a sign to replace the shoes as shortly after that, my knees get sore too.

My shoes are a year or 2 old with custom orthotics due to a bunion. Maybe it's time for a new pair of shoes
