Adding 27 grams to racquet grip. Alternatives to lead tape?

I am trying to find a way to add 27grams to the handle of my Wilson Blade. There is no room under the butt cap. Hair pin is filled with foam. The reason I am looking for alternatives is because by my calculation, 27g of 1/2" wide lead tape is 4 ft. I am not sure where I will place all that lead tape.

Does anyone have any alternatives to adding weight to the handle?

A couple of options, me thinks, without digging out all the foam in the handle.

1. (as already suggested) add a leather grip and a full size heat shrink sleeve. But get one grip size smaller

2. get 2 grip sizes smaller and add 2 x full size heat shrink sleeves.

Excuse my confusion, but I estimated a different length of ~13 inches. Each gram is ~2.1 in using ½ tape vs 4.2 in using the ¼" tape. 27 grams/2.1 grams/in = 12.86 in. I would do a combination of heavier replacement grip and nails thru the foam.

Forget the lead tape. Plain old lead - like fishing weights - is much more dense than tapes. Get a lead putty from hobby stores if you want to measure weights precisely.

I just edited this post because I realized it's in poor taste to link to another business on this msg board.

The golfworks high density lead foil tape

I've used this before, on golf clubs and tennis racquets. It's twice as thick as regular lead tape. It's a half inch wide and one inch length is about one gram. I think a racquet handle is usually a little over 7 inches. So if you put a 7 inch strip on the four fat bevels under the grip that would be 28 grams.

-silicone is the fastest way to add weight in the handle,,, BUTTTTTTT it is a hard to remove after if you dont like it

-better option IMO, would be the leather grip idea, + lead tape!
-if you dont like it, it can be removed/replaced easily

For foam filled handles.... I prefer using various length wood screws per Bambooman's suggestion. I have found using screws is much easier to experiment with weights, and especially to remove, compared to lead, silicon, or blue tac because of the staples used to attach buttcaps.

Heavier grip.. upto 10g
Some strips of 1/2" lead tape on each of the bevels...
8-10 grams of tungsten putty in the butt cap
A few nails driven into the foam... Upto 10g is possible.

Total can be easily what you need.

Hi @brownbearfalling. Summarizing what the other tennis aficianados have previously said, 1stly you may want 2 ask urself if u mind if ur grip size increases? If not then as per the other posters' suggestion u can add a heat shrink sleeve and leather grip, then finish with an over grip. 2ndly if not wanting to increase grip size, you may consider adding thin lead tape to all sides of your bevel and then add leather grip ontop (and overgrip) and maybe some solid lead (also as suggested by other posters) in the butt of the handle if possible. What are your thoughts up2now?

A grip is about 4 feet. That amount of tape will easily fit on the handle. Should you do it is another question ...
