Adidas Barricade 2021

G.O.A.T.
Bought these yesterday from my local shop and am torn on them. I've been wearing the Barricade Classics in a wide fit. These obviously don't come in a wide so when I tried the next size up they felt too long. After about 2 hours of wearing them around the house I'm starting to wish I'd sized up. Ugh... anyone else with a wide foot size up in these?
Barricades have traditionally been a shoe that needs a break in period. Can't say for sure about the new ones, but I have wider feet and they used to feel very snug out of the box. Would loosen up significantly after some play.

Can anyone ID this? First time seeing this generation Barricade with what looks to be a mesh upper. Could be a game changer for people having trouble with the break-in period of the more plastic upper.

Can you compare the toebox width of those to any current wide shoes like the Blushield 5, SoleCourt Boosts, Cage 4, UltraShot 2, or Resolution 8 Wide?
Toebox is wider in the Barricade '21's than Cage 4's. For me, solecourt boosts had a wider outsole, but toebox was narrower in the SCB than barricades. I ordered a pair of barricades, tried them on yesterday, and loved everything about them minus the heel tab that digs into my achilles tendon. Barricades felt like a glove similar to my Court FF2's. Fit was much better with thicker socks but it wasn't a risk I was going to take just to see if it breaks in ok.

where'd you get these photos? nice find. Never seen these before either. I just wish adidas didn't include the tab in the back in an otherwise perfect shoe for my foot

I was asking about the Barricade Bounce 4E dude.

I'm torn between the Pulse Aqua Barricades and the Asics Solution Speed FF2's, for clay. I can get both for the same price... I currently wear Court FF2's but they're not clay. Anyone have experience with both?

Pulled the trigger on these via Adidas. Had a gift card and my discount so was able to get it for cheap, was going to hold off on the black/grey/blue ones but who knows when and if they'll ever show up on the Adidas website.
Did you notice they’re clay sole only?

by the way adidas website seems weird with stock, missing all the color ways and they seem to only release one when the other all sells out. Now weirdly only selling the clay version which is not going to fly most of USA. The red black white was in stock in all sizes then totally vanished after Memorial Day. I was watching the site and I don’t think it actually sold out in every size….

Yeah, I needed a clay shoe since I play a lot of Har-Tru down here in the south. But you're right the Adidas online store is really weird when it comes to releases, timing, and stock. I look at it almost everyday hoping the black/grey/blue ones will pop up but still nothing. I did not see the red/black/white ones, the only ones that have been available in my size were the ones I purchased, the black/blue ubersonic 4's, and the white ubersonic 4's.

Does anyone know if they changed the fit or components of the latest barricades compared to last year's model? I've been reading ppl have more comfort in the latest models

I received my Barricades the other day and tried them on and I noticed they're pretty tough to get on, the tongue is definitely different compared to most other shoes so that'll take time getting used to. Once they're on hey feel nice and secure but I feel like I'm getting a bit of heel slip while walking around, I'll have to break them in more to see. Also, I have the clay version and having the holes in the tongue (guessing ventilation purposes) doesn't seem like a good idea as clay can get in there. Honestly doesn't matter though the sock will get clay on it regardless and will be washed. Won't be playing tennis for a few weeks so I won't be able to test it's performance and how it feels on court. I also own two pairs of Court FF2 Novak's and a pair of Diadora B.Icons.

I must say they, the barricades look SICK! Definitely my favorite shoe aesthetically of the bunch and the Pulse Aqua is ****ing awesome in person.

just got me a pair of the clay version in the pulse aqua colour, they look fantastic! Will be trying them out for a few hours this week. Been playing barricades for years, after that Soelcourt and Solematch, but I’m glad to be back in barricades!

Yes! I was actually blown away by how awesome they looked in person! Let me know how you like them, I haven’t had the pleasure of using them yet as I’ve been sick. Been wearing them around the house though and they feel better every time.

So I have played a few hours on clay with them now. Really like the stability and the feeling that the shoe really sits firmly on my feet with little or no heel och toe slipping. With my solecourt and solematch shoes there were some movement in the toe area. It feels like a faster and lighter shoe than my previous barricades.

Only knock right now is that it’s the first shoe in quite some time to give me what is called “skoskav” in Swedish. Is it called chafing in English? On the heel in one foot and below the ankle on the outside of the other foot. but besides that, and it doesn’t bother me much, it’s a great shoe!

Thank you for the glowing review! Sounds like chafing to me! It's not the type where it rubs and then causes your skin to come off and makes it bleed is it? What kind of socks do you wear? I fortunately don't have that issue but since I switch to the thick Thorlo Tennis Max Cushion socks, my feet have been in heaven in every shoe.

It’s that kind. But since it’s on two different places on each foot I’m thinking maybe some gravel found it’s way in there and caused this. I use two pairs of socks normally or one pair and a thin ankle support underneath each.

How did the level of comfort compare between the FF2s, B.Icons and Barricades?

Court FF2 > B.Icons > Barricades

I give the slight edge to the FF2 due to the fact I live in Florida and it is more breathable than the B.Icons. The B.Icons are great, love them it's just I hate the lacing system, when you get closer to the tongue the cluster **** of lacing is a hassle when you want to make it tight. Honestly, I wouldn't hesitate to get any of these, they definitely have their place. Seeing that I don't really have any issues with performance on any of these, but in the future I will buy Barricades because I think they look the best and love the different colorways they come out with. I have a discount with Asics and Adidas and I can get both for the basically the same price, which is cheap compared to how much they cost now.

Length wise, how do barricades (or b.icons) compare to gel resolutions? 13 works for me in gel resolution, 13 doesn’t work for me in new balance — too short and 14 would be too long…don’t make 13.5).

Owned the GR8's and currently own the Barricades and B.Icons, I go the same size for all 3 and no issues length wise, HOWEVER the B.Icons do seem to have a tiny bit more room length wise but not enough for me to size down.

The bottom is a nice touch. Loving their Parley stuff so far, I got the Wimbledon Stretch Woven tee and I like it a lot, really looking to pick up the Freelift one as well, the yellow accent is a nice touch. I wish they did that with the shoes as well instead of the orange.

We do have it in our system in both clay and hard outsole. It looks like the clay version was dropped. The hard court outsole appears to have an arrival date in October but has not been confirmed by adidas.

Thanks,
Brittany, TW

Thanks for the quick response, Brittany! I’m looking for the hard court outsole specifically, so that’s great. But man… October is a long way out! :(
