Let us know how they feel. I thought they were a little warm but extremely comfortable. I needed to tighten the laces at the top after the warmup to lock in my ankle a little better. Plenty of grip on dry Har-tru even though these are the hard court version.
Didn’t get to play on clay after all, our local ALTA senior team (similar to USTA teams) ran WAY over, so had to play on hard court. Outsole pattern looks great for Har-tru.

First thing I immediately noticed is that Bounce cushioning is so much better than Boost. I’ve only had the pleasure of using Lightstrike in the Uber 4’s, Boost in the SCBs, and now Bounce in the Barricades. Cushioning is a massive improvement.

This definitely doesn’t feel as wide in the forefoot as the SCB’s were. I was getting what I thought was heel slippage, but the ankle collar isn’t moving at all. That feels very secure. It’s those pods, my foot was definitely moving around a bit. I get why Pro Foot Doc says that’s a tough break in. I played in them again this morning and it’s definitely better than the first time I slipped them on.

Not a fan of the elastic eyelits, but it’s getting better. I still don’t feel SUPER secure sometimes. Second session felt far more secure. Shoe overall is breaking in pretty well. I’m coming from the Diadora BS5’s and the ASICS SSFF2s, and these definitely aren’t as weighty as the Blueshields, but heavier than ASICS too. I think it’s lighter than the SCB’s, too. This feels like a right down the middle medium weight shoe, and I like it.

Overall, I’m pretty impressed. I think this is a good offering. 7.5-8/10 ish right now.

What's the release date ? and what is 7.5-8/10 ?? is that the weight of the shoes ?

That forefoot looks really really thin.

If I understand the nr’s in the teardown that Zack did, then the forefoot is 1 cm thick against 1,8 for the Diadora Blueshields. That is a very low front.

That colourway is available from Adidas (at least in the UK)
Well,

The spelled-out branding on the medial side looks trashy to me.

I was hopeful that was on the prototypes used for the early sneak-peek photos but, sadly, it appears it's on the OTC sneaks.

Bleh.

[edit] well, now the photos in Return_Ace's post below have the Three Stripes™ on both sides of the upper, so I don't know what we'll see on the North American shoe when it hits retail. Wait-and-see, I guess ...

Another Adidas shoe launch without their best and down to earth PJ….. black n white. We ll wait for that to pull the trigger.

it's ridiculous to call Zach "influencer". anyone who doesn't want to watch his videos is "big boy approved" to do so.
Let me break it down for you. He's not producing those vids for no reason. He gets ad revenue based on views. So, call it what you want, but that's the exact job description of an influencer.

My pair arrived!

I have flat, wide feet and was using the solecourt boosts before. I have to say... these suit my foot type perfectly. Wide enough, comfortable, and supportive.

I plan on walking around in them today and tomorrow to break them in before playing on Monday. I'll compare to the SCB as those have been my go to shoes for over a year now.

How's the fit? Are they true to size?

i find that they are true to size. Wore the, a couple of times to walk around a bit and will take the, out for a run tonight. My only knock so far is I wore no shows to break them in the first time and got a blister around my Achilles. The good news is it seems to be breaking in there and I don’t wear no shows to play in so I should be good.

The Toyko colorway is live on Adidas. Just ordered and was able to apply 30% Icon reward. Wierd because they wouldn't allow me to apply to black Ubersonic 4 when they stopped.

Nice that a Barricade shares price point with U4. Big ups to Adidas! As much as I want to try the Nike NXT Vapor, the $160 price point is a deterrent. Find myself only dangling there for retro Jordan's from the 90's/2000's and even then it's a stretch.

Well my first run in them last night was a mixed bag. Performance wise, I thought they were great. Snug fit, very secure and stable, didn't feel overly heavy, solid cushioning and traction. The big drawback is the massively over-engineered Achilles area inside the shoe. There are so many individual foam pods inserted that it is tight and creates a lot of friction points. Even with 2 pairs of socks on, it rubbed my Achilles raw and gave me a good size blister. I'm crossing my fingers that it is something that will break in bc I was otherwise impressed, but if it persists through a few more times out, it will be a deal breaker.

Walked in these for a bit on Monday and took them for the first court run yesterday. Played dubs for about 2.5 hours. Felt good on court but hope another couple of hours breaks them in. As mentioned above, a lot of support around the Achilles, so much so that I actually got a blister when I wore them with no show socks walking around. You’ll definitely want longer socks with these.
So I can’t render judgment yet. Hopefully some opportunity to break them in more this weekend.

I thought zoom vapor cages took a bit to break it but they certainly rival the cages I’m break in time.

....so much so that I actually got a blister when I wore them with no shoes walking around.

Must be an amazing pair to give you blisters when you weren't even wearing them ;)

Or you wear two pairs of shoes at a time normally , that sounds pretty neat actually.

interested to hear more

I have a wide forefoot and, although I don’t have flat feet, my arch is on the lower side.

SCB was my favourite shoe I’ve used so far and I’m kicking myself that I only bought one pair. They lasted ages for me (I don’t slide or anything).

I've been holding off on replying on their performance until I get them fully broken in (two sessions isnt enough!) but can comment on the fit in comparison to the SCB at least.

They are not as wide as the SCB but are close enough for my flat/wide feet to work. I did have to go a 1/2 size up and I'd recommend others with this foot type do the same. If they do later come out with a wide version....... Adidas will take my money.

I didn't weigh the shoes themselves but the Barricade definitely feels lighter on your feet. I was chasing down balls that both myself and the people I was hitting with didnt think I would reach. That's a good sign haha. I'm not sure if this is due to the weight, bounce over boost, or the less bulky size of the shoe itself. Probably a combination of all three.

I'll comment more on how they differ in performance, for me, once I feel these are fully broken in. I don't think I had to break the SCB in at all aside from wearing them around the office for a day........ which was nice.

Looks like we have an answer—

... an awesome (not!) worst of all worlds scheme, to my eyes. I kind of liked the psycho-chequered flag, but, has Adidas stopped being the Three Stripes Brand™? New Balance is pushing it just using ONE LETTER of their brand name, but Adidas now goes and spells the whole thing out for us <headdesk>. (I refer to the graphics on the medial side, tbc.)

smh

So glad I bought two pairs of the SCB, because the new Barricades look incredibly dumb. That giant logo is embarrassing enough to kill the Barricade line again lol

Only one thing worries me though is that why didn't Sasha switch to this if it is so good ? he won the GOLD wearing the Ubersonic 4

thanks for the feedback

It sounds like I’m definitely gonna miss the SCB. I’d finally found a shoe (coming for Nike Vapors) where I pretty much had no complaints. I tried the Vapor X, and even with a full size up, there were far too narrow for my feet. I ended up getting the wide version off the web and they fit me fine, but they’re so unstable on court and the durability obviously sucks (major drawback for the vapors). The SCB solved all those problems for me.

I know brands have to update and renew their catalogs, but it’s just frustrating from a consumer standpoint.

I don’t see why Zverev would move over to the Barricades. These are essentially a straight swap for the SoleCourt Boosts. Zverev has always been an Ubersonic wearer. He’s essentially their poster boy for that line. What’s interesting is there still doesn’t seem to be much Pro adoption of the Uber 4. Only really Zverev. That’s putting me off adopting them fully, my Uber 2s are almost done. Can’t say I love my Uber 4 clay shoes. If it wasn’t for the horrendous adidas logo on the Barricade I might be tempted to give them a go. I’m kind of in a holding pattern! I’m tempted by the NB LAV 2, unfortunately they still haven’t arrived in the UK!

Uber 4 cushioning is probably the best in Adidas line but it just doesn't have that side to side support when running laterally for wide out balls in baseline rallies. That's probably the reason why there isn't more of wide Pro adaption to the Uber 4, but Sasha seem to be moving just fine on the baseline winning the GOLD medal though.

But i think new Barricades have much better lateral support. Logos and looks doesn't bother me at all on shoes, i don't wear it for fashion shows. I wear to it to play matches and tennis practices.

I am a happy Boost Barricade user, but am ready to try a change
What other sneakers offer Boost like padding?

I think only shoes with Boost in them offer that kind of great responsive cushioning. Lightstrike cushion is very very responsive but it just isn't durable like Boost is.

Can we talk about how this is the ugliest shoe of all time? Why oh why and how did this come to be?

Definitely a strong candidate for the ugliest shoe ever! Not looking at other brands, I'm sure they have some 'entries' too, but for Adidas this is a huge step back in terms of esthetics. It sort of started with the '17's-18s Barricades, but those are still acceptable compared to these.
I understand that "performance" is more important than "looks", but in this case it's pretty obvious they sacrificed the perf aspect in favor of looks. Taking away the paint job and strange lacing system, there's nothing new about this shoe perf wise. On top, the multi patterned heel support, I guess another "advance" in their Marketing materials, is just another possible drawback. Wonder what is wrong with normal heel padding as used for 100 years in any sport shoe? Maybe our heels evolved without us knowing it?
Luckily, there are other brands that offer a better value including performance, comfort, and looks.
Just hard to understand that after the success they had with the Boost line for runners, they're not able to duplicate the same in tennis!
