Adidas Cybersonic

There is a reason that the Adidas players are not switching to this shoe. I am sure they all had ample time to playlets them BEFORE release. I am certain Adidas would love it if one of their pros played in the shoe. So why aren't they using them - I wonder?
Which shoe is better ?? Cybersonic or babolat propulse fury 3 ?

My guess is that it's because all of the lace loops on both the lateral and medial sides are stretchy bungies. That doesn't help with lateral containment or stability. At least the lateral side of the barricades has you lace directly into the upper, and so do both sides of the Uber 4s.

Lol I’m 6’6” with a 14 shoe so the struggle to find a lightweight shoe with stability has been rough haha. I feel I plant harder than most especially side to side . Thinking I’ve found one that works for me here just hope they hold up !

this guy shows a size 11 weighs 13 ounces (at 4 minutes in the video) but tennis warehouse says 14 ounces for a size 10.5

But how? @StefanosWillSaveTheWorld Do you have a scale in your store? Can you do a weighing for us?

I loved it when he put on screen a cm/oz metric together! But I'm lazy to google the oz part, so I'm clueless now..

Although I'd like to see the roots of those rods, that seemed like the most interesting part, yet it was skipped..

But a great review nevertheless (y)

The market for this shoe is so small that it will soon be on sale - like the Staycon was for Adidas. If you view the review posted by Foot Doctor Zach, he does a good job of explaining why. This shoe was made for a very specific type of player that favor quickness over all else. If you are thinking about buying a pair, you might want to wait 3-4 months and save a ton of money.

16.3 oz for my size 14

I just got my pair and have been walking around the house for 15 minutes. It is very tight on the sides, very very snug. i don't think i can play any matches for any duration of time with shoes this tight. Of course, Length is ok because it got my size. but sides of the shoes tight. Not sure if i got 1/2 size bigger, it would be any better ?? i doubt it. as far as support and pushoff, no problem there, very performance oriented shoes but just too tight.

i may have to return this shoes.

yea def on the narrow side of shoes. I did mention I had been playing in sprint pro 3.5 which a lot of people find too narrow as well. I think the cybersonic isn’t as narrow as those and comparable width wise to vapors but prob fits certain foot shapes better than others

Watched the review, pretty aligned with how I feel about them. They just feel so fast and completely one with my foot. I'm pretty light on my feet, don't really feel like a lot of cushioning is my highest need, so these are perfect for me. Durability is still teh question but that video seems to suggest they will be pretty great for a speed shoe.

Fit is always a pretty personal think. I don't have wide feet so they work well for me. I would guess someone with a wide foot would struggle with these, they're maybe similar to the vapors?

EDIT: I'll also add I did feel some pressure from the collar on the lateral side when I put them on, worried me a bit but haven't ever noticed it while playing

one thing i don't understand is why the cushioning is so poor. this is basically double Lightstrike cushion that Uber 4 has. and Uber 4 lightstrike cushion is pretty plush and decent especially when its new

IMO you will know within two hours of play.

Just played a singles match with my second pair of Cybersonics. I felt like the shoe offered great traction and provided a snug 1:1 fit that disappeared as soon as I started running. I felt supported enough to change directions moderately hard, which is saying something for an overweight middle aged guy with tiny feet and foot/ankle/knee problems!! The shoe also felt light. It was a losing effort on my part, but the shoe was not to blame.
BUT, is it worth 180 dollars in the marketplace? I'd say no. The Uber 4 is probably about as stable laterally (as long as you stay away from the versions with the knit upper), and the Barricade is stable and provides just as much midfoot support and propulsion, but it has a wide fit which may impact your stability if your feet aren't wide enough. These shoes offer descent stability in a lightweight package, but I'd say that all three of these Adidas shoes sacrifice a bit of lateral stability to offer a light, fast feeling shoe with decent cushioning.

Would you get even more stability and better cushioning from a pair of Ballot Jet Mach 3s on sale now for $80.? I would tend to think you would.

It is still curious that none of the Adidas tennis pros are wearing the Cybersonic shoe that I am aware of. It was supposed to be for Zverev, but he tried them and has stuck with the Ubersonic 4. Doesn't that say something about this shoe?

How are these already sold out in many places yet are getting bad reviews everywhere. Low supply?

The Cybersonics did go on sale for a bit here at TW. People perhaps grabbed a few pairs. Agree about the limited supply, maybe manufacturing cost contributed to this? Not sure.

The fit is definitely for medium/narrower foot type. It's snug in there, but extremely supportive and stable for me. The inside of this shoe also felt smooth and very well crafted. Though folks wider foot types might benefit from other nice brands like Diadora, Lotto and even Babolat like some posters reported here.

Also, there were some negative reviews reported like eyelets popping or breaking, being too narrow or not supportive at all. Never had this issue yet. But I think for the cost ($180), players want/demand a perfect shoe for their foot which is reasonable but not possible at all due to each unique foot type.

I have them in Size 10s and could weigh them but TW has already done that for us. In their review:

"The Cybersonics weigh in at 14.1 ounces (size 10.5), making them about the same weight as a Barricade."
You don't think I am aware of that already? I have found the weights listed to be incorrect on at least 3 occasions

How would I know what you are or are not aware of?
I would have measured them for you but youre probably already aware of the their true weight By now.

The Cybersonics are possibly my favorite new shoe. Even maybe replacing the Gel Res 8 at the top for me. They seem to breathe better and it's a perfect fit for my forefoot where it doesn't move around at all inside the shoe but at the same time it doesn't pinch my toes. I picked them up on sale for $107 but they were an even better buy for anyone who grabbed them this past weekend from TW for $93. My buddy grabbed a pair directly from Adidas in a color way I hadn't seen before. I don't mind the current blue/orange one but I think this new red/grey one looks much better.

Glad I read through this. I was considering these shoes but now it sounds like they would not be a good fit for me at all.

Guess I'm getting the GR9.

It’s taken a while but finally got my hands on a pair (now the pricing on older models is realistic) and I have to say out of the box these are the most comfortable shoe I’ve bought. I’m a long time Ubersonic 2/4 wearer and was hoping these might work and I’m not disappointed. The fit feels much like a combination of the Ubersonic and Barricade in that the tongue is similar to the Barricade but in a slimmer shoe. Sizing is the same to me, I’m an 8uk and always buy an 8.5 in Adidas. I’ve recently switched to Diadora B.Icon and while I love those too, I think the Cybersonic might just be my favourite. I didn’t love the Uber 4.1 update for some reason, felt looser in fit for me (maybe why Zverev is sticking with 4.0’s that Adidas seem to be providing in a custom paint job!). So far I’m a big fan, let’s see how they last (which was my only real issue with the Uber 4’s).

P.S. my only gripe with the Cyber is that laces do cut in a bit across the foot, nothing major though.

I have a pair of these arriving today, seems like they'll work well for my narrow foot. The design ticks all the right boxes for me, except for the goofy external shank wrapping around the heel. But we'll see.

Got my Cybersonics and played a match in them yesterday. I would say they run very slightly small to size, I am normally a 10.5 in Nike/Asics and also went with 10.5 in these. I would say fit is something like 1/4 size smaller than my old Speed FF2's. They are fairly snug with my regular Thorlo max cushion socks, but I think sizing up to 11 would be too loose. They are definitely built for narrow feet, which is good for me. I tried swapping the insoles for Move Game Day Pros and the fit got too tight with the Thorlos, but would be OK if I went to thinner socks. That's a no for me, since I usually struggle with blisters on balls of feet and big toes. Better to be really snug and avoid sliding around.

Feel underfoot is fantastic IMO, they are relatively firm and very low to the ground. I found the lateral stability to be totally fine for this style of shoe; they are more like a lightweight/fast shoe and not really built for max stability. The grip/tread is phenomenal and I never slipped at all.

Biggest negative has been mentioned a few times - the laces dig into the tops of your feet more than I've ever experienced in a tennis shoe. I normally use both of the top eyelets and sometimes do a runner's loop, to really get my heel locked down. No way was that possible in these shoes- the tops row of laces just totally cuts into your foot when you flex forward. Fortunately, the heel lockdown seemed fine using only one of the top eyelets. I didn't really notice the lace pressure much while I was playing, but once I started driving home (probably feet starting to swell a bit), they started to feel really uncomfortable. Actually had to undo the laces at a stoplight. They make comfort pads for "lace bite," I might consider adding one of these to the tongue to beef it up a bit.

Overall I really enjoyed the feel of the shoe while playing, just not so much afterwards. The weight/speed and grip are fantastic, breathability is good. The external shank on the back is not as obnoxious in person as it appears in photos. Overall I think a solid purchase if I can make some minor adjustments. I got the usual "new shoe" hotspots on the balls of my feet and big toes, but this is normal for me anytime I use new shoes. Eventually I'll probably still swap the insoles for something a little higher-end, even if it's just the Dr. Scholl's sport insoles. The stock ones are not the worst I've seen, but nearly any aftermarket insole will still be an upgrade.
