Adidas Torsion Edberg Comp

Hey Vollaix, how about some of those Edberg shirt designs in a polyester material ??

Not the first time people have asked. Love the old design with the McDonald’s colors from 88:

Helas combined with adidas to do a line with them a couple of years ago. It was decent bc the colors were good and it was a thick poly, but with long sleeves. They went on clearance for $10. I had a tailor cut the sleeves to make them short for an extra $10:

I made a mock-up this past spring and ran it by a few people, but it seemed “too obscure” (aren’t they all?!) and it got voted down:

Would love to do edberg 1990 Wimbledon someday:

Great colors atatu
Loved the Edberg kit when he won Wimbledon in 88. I think it was 88.
I remember having the vest but have no clue what happened to it.

I thought that you have an appreciation for the old designs? When one refers to a design inspired from Miro's work as "the McDonald's colours" I am sad about the state of things. Please, pay respect to what you use to produce your stuff.

What is your favorite painting by Miro?
Mine is May 1968
Adidas should bring the Edberg line back again. Beautiful colors used in that line.

oh yeah!!! I remember getting those comps when I was (15?) ...at a Don Sherwoods in southern california. I had the yellow/purple/green ones and would just stare at them all day.

the light blue "road map" shirt was one of my favorites, but I think I had my dad buy more iL stuff for me.

I had those green Edbergs years ago.. along with the red/yellow/green SE shirt. Great design. Wanted the Lendl Comps too, but had very little money at the time so I opted for the Air Trainer 1 instead. Superb shoe.

Air Trainer 1 definitely a true classic.
They were my go to shoes for tennis for a bit.
But horrible sole for the hard courts. Wore out quickly. Since they were meant for cross training.
I went through 5 pairs in one year.
But another classic I used was the Nike Court Challenge Mid (See below the Trainer), released in 1984.
I believe was released again in 2012

Different lendls have hit the market over the years. The 1986 edbergs came out back in 2014:
https://thesolesupplier.co.uk/release-dates/adidas/adidas-edberg-86-og-wimbledon/
I bought a pair of those. Purple ones with a little green. Not as comfortable as the original ones were, think they are using different materials?
what did you guys remember about the weight of those edberg 86s (ie. what did they compare to)? Did they outweigh the Torsion Comps? Those were pretty light according to https://www.tennis-warehouse.com/descpage.html?pcode=AMEWS

Were these referring to the edberg 86 or the torsion comp? what was the weight of the 86s comparable to? and lastly, did the Lendl comps also get a rerelease in the mid 2010s?

anything you remember about the weight of these? (ie. what do they compare do?)

The original 86 ones. They were all leather and heavy like all the other shoes during that time. Midsole was the standard EVA and didn’t have much cushioning. The Edbergs were more similar to the Lendl supremes and not the comps. Reminded of the basketball shoe the Adidas Forum.

Torsion comp came out in the early 90’s and were lighter and had much better cushioning.

The original 86 ones
but what were you referring to when you said "those green ones" though? the link provided earlier in the thread was regarding a 2014 rerelease of the edbergs which were green. are you saying you had both the original AND the 2014 rerelease?

I hade the original 1986 version when I was a kid. I thought this thread was about the Torsions and didn’t catch that the OG Edbergs were rereleased. And yes, they looked just like the released ones below:

I had them too as a kid and the rerelease I have now from a couple of years ago. I almost never wear them, heavy, no cushioning, hard as rocks. I would avoid them. I am talk about the OG Edberg’s. The Comp is better. Lighter, fit better, cushioning is better too, although the forefoot doesn’t have a lot. Nice casual shoe, nothing more. Not to play in at all. More modern shoes are better for that hands down.

Yeah, the og ones are more like the lifestyle shoes. I think cushioning improved in the late 80’s after the introduction of Air Trainer 1s. Shoes prior to then were just clogs.
