Adidas Ubersonic 4 Thread

The energy return in the Uber 4's is superb. The lightstrike cushioning system, and the innovative midfoot shank design works very well.

I still prefer the GP Turbos and also love wearing the Babolat SFX3's, so I don't think I'll get any more of these, but Adidas is onto a winner for sure.

I know you tried the Ubersonic 3's. They were already a good shoe, but it's pretty hard to get away with an expensive flagship tennis shoe that just had a standard EVA cushioning system. Adidas was flogging off stone-age tech in an expensive top of the line tennis shoe. That is one reason why the Ubersonic 3 sorely needed an upgrade. With these new Uber 4's they updated the cushioning system. Also, the lacing system in the Uber 4 is substantially better than what the Ubersonic 3 had.

Big return to form for Adidas, and they desperately needed it.
didn't try the uber3. but anyway, it isn't fair to compare such a light performance shoes like Uber4 to nike GT Turbo which is much heavier shoe with double zoom air system.

what about SFX3's, it seems like fairly light shoes. How does that compare to Uber 4 ?? cushioning and support wise ?

Some commented that the shoe, ubersonic 4, tended to create a somewhat unpleasant fold/bend/crease in the forfoot section, becoming a source of discomfort.
Have you a comment on this as many of you surely has had a chance to break them in?
Is this a problem something that lingers or does it go away as the shoe warms by your foot, shapes after your foot/breaks in?

Also, what would you say, as it may have been broken in by now, in terms of fit in relation to size?
As a personal reference - I currently use solecourt boost in size 47 1/3 and if anything, they feel to be on the larger end of the spectrum compared to what may be the optimum/custom type fit.
Based on this, what size do you suggest I choose if deciding to give these u4's a go?
No longer find this crease to be unpleasant. I only noticed it during my first hit. In fact, it has all but disappeared. Loving the shoes — in all regards.

Do you think uber4 could increase the cushioing in the front of the shoe bit more ? cushion in the heel area is great but some people say if there is any weakness at all with this shoe, it is that cushioning in the front of the shoe is bit thin

I love the SFX3 shoes. the comfort, weight and width is great. They are an absolute bargain. They are not an absolute flagship shoe, though. You don't get the same energy return as the ubersonic 4's, and not as much lateral support.

I can't get past the comfort, though. You can practice for hours in them and you can just forget about your feet. Great breathability, too.

Surely SFX3 can't as comfy as the GT Turbo ? lol. but i understand what you mean, that compressor air cushion is very soft and comfy. anyway for the USTA matches, i need really good lateral support in my heel and midfoot because of all the crazy acrobatic jumps and moves i have to make at net. I can easily turn my ankles if the support isn't the best. so for the matches, i will probably have to stay with Uber4

The U3 had a PU midsole which I found great. It was a tad bottom heavy but it provided the perfect amount of springiness and whole foot cushioning. The U2 I think had standard EVA cushioning and felt dated but the overall fit, weight and support of the U2 was superb.

Uber2 had ADIPRENE+ in the forefoot maintains propulsion and efficiency . some people likes Adiprene + but i felt like they were little bit too firm and hard, not soft enough.

Yes, you're right. Polyurethane.

Do you think this new lightstrike foam in uber4 is alot of improvement over that one ? many people do think so.
Of course, Lightstrike feels way better than the midsole in U2. But it's stacked in the heel and I wish they made it more even like in the U3 where the forefoot is better cushioned. U3 cushioning is way better than U2's but almost as good as Lightstrike.

Adidas should do the right thing, and after Ü4s swallow up the sales of Ü2 they should retire the Ü2s and bring the Ü3s back to the market. Ü3 was a fantastic, and very different form Ü2 or Ü4 shoe.

most people who didn't like the Uber3 didn't like it cause it has poor support, heel and ankle support was just not up to par with the best performance shoes out there like Vapor, or FF2

Why is Daniel Evans still wearing the Ubersonic 2 in the battle of the brits tournament going on right now ?? is it because of the contract reasons ?

They feel cushioned enough for me but I really don’t need/want much cushioning. For those seeking a plush feel, I don’t think this would be the right shoe.
fwiw, they feel marginally better cushioned than the 2s, from heel to toe.

why are you laughing ?? it's one of the few ways that you can measure the energy return and how well the cushioning responds to push off the court surface
I love those reviews, but that test just measures height, linking it to 1 specific factor is IMO speculation.

the height is affected by the shoe weight, the player (good/bad day, clothing, warmed up), flexibility of the shoe, energy return, outside conditions (the weather) and who knows what else.

TBH I think “energy return” is not the main one out of those factors.

For those of you experienced in both Ubersonic 4 and NikeCourt Zoom Vapor X Air Max 95:
How would you compare them? Would appreciate any comment.
For example;
Which of ubersonic 4 and NikeCourt Zoom Vapor X Air Max 95 would you say offer the best width in the forefoot/toebox?
Is it correct to say that this Nike model has a snug fit, perhaps even to a fault?
Merry Christmas, to you all.

Isn't the AM 95 the same as the regular Vapor X only the upper cosmetics are different? If so, I wore both and the forefoot fit about the same width wise, maybe the U4 is a tad wider. The U4 has a fuller fitting mid foot and heel. Length wise they are about the same. I felt more locked down and secure with the Vapor X and like how the footbed cushioning is even from toe to heel. The U4 has a really stacked heel and mid foot cushioning and then the toes have like no cushion. Feels kind of weird, sort of like the heel to toe drop in the NB Lav's. Vapor X outsole is more slick and easier to slide in if that's your thing but I like the U4's stickier outsole better.

my comment was about the Uber 4s.

are you going to give the vapor NXTs a try when they come out?

Yes of course i will. This new 2021 NXT will have new cushioning system by Nike. If you make a Vapor with improved better cushioning, i will switch for sure. but it will have to have bit more thicker substantial cushion.

It looks like it will have New Nike REACT foam

I'm sure there will be some 'normal' chock neon pink/yellow colorway coming up in the future that will be much less clown-like... ;-)
I, for one, rather like the dazzle/zebra concept. 'Different strokes for different folks' I guess...

Well I wanted to like them..But I, too, have been spoiled by the GP turbo. These felt like i was wearing cardboard. I prefer the ubersonic 2 for sure. These were a miss in my opinion by adidas. Just bot enough going on.

I just ordered a pair from another retailer that happened to still have some of my size left, since TW said that this design wasn't going to be restocked...

Gotta agree with you... that’s a pretty silly test that shows nothing
I''ve been commenting on his videos calling him out on just that. He won't seem to back down, but some of these tests actually discredit him a bit. I'm a basketball player as well, and the basketball shoe youtube community won't even make claims about the shoes increasing your vertical. And that's in a sport that worships the vertical leap, in an industry that has tried over the years to make claims about increasing vertical leap (but has had to back down as consumers got more savvy about gimmics.)

Yeah, I am that good. ;)

Nice zebra outfit btw, return ace

So I purchased the light grey 4s (wearing them as I type this).

Have been wearing them around the house today and will for a few more days during the week to break them in before I getting on the court. Within 30 minutes I was getting pretty bad friction on the upper heel area. This was definitely going to blister if I kept wearing them as is. I went ahead and put on a second pair of socks like I do when I play. I usually wear one sock with slight compression and a second with additional cushioning. The heel area is one of the extra cushioned areas. The friction problem seems to be gone. I'll report back after I get a day on the court with them on this issue.

I have fairy wide feet and was using the SoleCourt Boost before these. Loved them but the toe box was just slightly too big which resulted in my little toes getting banged up and black during play. These seems to accommodate wider feet fairly well. I will say, I put the insole from the SoleCourt in these and it felt a little better. The insoles from the Solecourt are slightly wider so maybe that helped. I may look into buying some wider insoles to put in the 4s.

Gents. This is a lovely colorway. Mostly subtle grey with a nice pop. The Zebra was awful we can all agree that the "confidential" trend needs to go. The Neon ones are loud which are divisive.. but these... so nice

Just a heads up, I received these and they’re super deceiving. I thought they were white and black but they’re blue/grey with black stripes. I ordered mine from TE because I had a gift card and their description said white and black. Not cool! Even TW pics looks black and white.

You need to calibrate your screen: the look grey-blue-ish (on TW too).

They seem mostly white to me with slight grey but even the description says white and black on TE, where I ordered them from. Then TW says blue/black/yellow. The sites need pics of them on people’s feet. It’s just a confusing scenario is all. Not sure why all sites don’t match up is all. I had a problem with sizing too. Last month I got the zebra ones in 10.5 and they were TINY. Ordered 11’s and they were HUGE. Then I ordered these new colored ones in 10.5 and they’re perfect. I usually wear 10’s in the Solecourt Boosts which I have had about 8 pair of so Adidas sizing is a mess lol or I just got a bad couple pair of the U4’s. I was just super stoked to get a pair of all white with black stripes. Perfect to match everything with haha

Please, stop.

The pictures on TW show grey-blue-ish tinted Ü4s, so, like I said, the problem is not with the pictures.

Update after breaking them in by wearing them to work for 3 days and then playing today:

One word: Painful.

These shoes are NOT for people with flat wide feet. I can see them being good for people with a more normal width and arch. For me, it was just painful. I am going to have to stick to the solecourt boost.

I have the light grey UB4s and they do look great, however, I had a weird color bleed? the very first time time I wore them. It looks like a water stain... type... thing... across the toe vamp on both feet. Oddly, the stain on both feet is similar in shape but the right foot is somehow red in color. I honestly can't explain it. My socks were all white and I didnt step in any puddles nor drop any drinks.

I think that is pretty obvious from the picture. Can you post a picture of the ones youve recieved?

have you guys notice anything with folding in the 1st shoe lace area and kind of pinching on top of the foot ? is this a common problem ?

That was part of the "painful" I mentioned in my post. I left the first two laces very loose to alleviate it a bit. I just assumed it was due to my foot being wider than what was intended for this shoe but maybe not.

For reference I'm 5'6" 175 lb (athletic build) and wore a 9.5 which left a good half an inch room in my toe box.
