Adizero feather

Ok the photos as promised are below. I haven't gotten to wear them on court yet so my initial impressions are very preliminary and only from walking around in them a little in my house. The shoes I'm most familiar with are the Barricade 5 & 6 so that's what I'm comparing these to.

First off the adizero feathers are significantly lighter than the barricades, even the tongue of this shoe is ultra thin to reduce weight. How much this may actually help regarding speed on court, I dunno but they do deliver on their "Feather" namesake. I think the cushioning feels full & supportive, very nice, on par to Barricade 6. The fit is glove-like and for me this size 10.5 felt more like a 10.25, a tad tight. I think break-in will be quite important on this shoe. The toe box is a little cramped, definitely narrower than the Barricade. So this may not be an ideal shoe for players with wide feet.

In lateral movement the shoe seems less stiff/supportive than the Barricade 6. So if the breaking in the Barricade 6 was making the sides of your feet hurt, the Feather should be better in that area. But on the other hand, the Feather feels stiffer than the Barricade when you try to bend forward. Like if you tried to stand on the balls of your feet, that bending motion meets with quite a bit of resistance. Once again, break-in could be critical in making this area feel comfortable. Also, on the inner side of the shoe, about 2" behind the big toe, there is a fairly hard chunk of plastic (says adituff) that I think is there for lateral support. On my right foot only, this piece of plastic is actually jabbing a little tight into my foot in an uncomfortable way. Possibly my right foot is marginally wider than my left?

That's about it for my initial impressions. Overall the lightness of this shoe is impressive and I love how it looks. But fit on this shoe is much less accommodating than the Barricade, much smaller tolerances. If your feet are wide or have other distinctions, I highly recommend you try on a pair before you buy.

UPDATE 1 (12/22/10):
I finally got to hit for about 2 hours in these shoes. My initial concerns about the stiff toe box being difficult to break in turned out to be a non-issue. The shoe felt pretty good to me, no real issues with stiffness, no real discomfort. It fit well and I could move around comfortably right off the bat. And it also loosened up real fast, my initial observation that it seemed maybe a 1/4 size smaller than the 10.5 it should be are no longer an issue. The shoe now fits like a true 10.5. I personally could not really notice the shoe's lightness in actual gameplay, I didn't feel like I was moving faster or easier than normal. The shoe is indeed lighter, but I think the few ounces of diff between it and Barricade were too subtle for my body to detect. The only con I noticed is that the front of the toe box is very stiff. So when I come to sudden stops and my toe hits up against the top of the toe box there's a little discomfort there, nothing major, but also not something I ever felt on the Barricade.

UPDATE 2 (12/29/10):
I played a much harder 2 hours in these shoes and unfortunately discomfort has reared its head. My outside pinky toe on both feet took a beating, they feel rather raw and sore from constant rubbing/grating against the narrower toebox. Went back to my Barricades and the toebox is much roomier and comfortable. Other than that the Feathers still feel ok, just seems like the narrower toebox is going to need some breaking in to hopefully stretch it out a little more.

Niceeee looking shoe. I may finally give adidas a try. One thing that i would change though, is that white heel accent (should be green imo).

Roger No.1, I was using a 60mm macro lens.

Kimguroo, the camera is a Nikon D70. No the shoe does not come with any warranty.

would you say the toe box is soft and flexible? does the material seem easy to rip?
The toe box does not feel soft or flexible to me. It feels rather stiff, but maybe it loosens up after breaking it in? The material does not seem easy to rip.

old DSLR still does good job ^_^ you might have good skills.

the shoes looks very nice but without warranty, I don't think I will buy it unless I can find it for $30 hahaha. I don't think it will last 9 weeks so $115 is too much for me.

Really? I happen to have the same lens - Nikkor 60mm f2.8 and I use D80. Have you tried changing apperture, because parts of some images are out of focus?

So I'm wearing my new pink adizeros (adizeroes?) as we speak. First off, the pink is, as I expected, more a salmon (hints of red/orange) than a true pink; it's a good color, but it'll clash with lots of your stuff (which I think is just fine). It is a very good-looking shoe; nice to see adidas going out on a limb with the color and the horizontal stripes. The fit of the shoe is just about perfect for me; a bit on the narrow side, nice arch a bit forward, toe box not too roomy, very much lighter and more comfortable than my B5s. Can't wait to get 'em out on court and check them out in action.

By the way, with all the new adidas phrases that play on the correct European pronunciation of the name (adidry, adizero, adiprene, adituff, etc.), isn't it about time we in America started saying it the right way? AH-dee-DAHSS?

or you can just say "all day I dream about soccer" if you dont want to look like a fool :)

Had to send back my pair of fresh pink. The uppers dug into my left ankle bone. To me, the toe box feels wider than the barricade 6. I don't want to sacrifice the comfort of the b6. No cushioning whatsoever on the feathers. This will be a great shoe for lots of players, just not me. Certainly fast, and an amazing looking shoe!

You have to sacrifice something to keep the shoe's weight down; the cushioning is still better than the old Feathers.

Photoshoped: Black or Green Heel

People had their ideas of changing the heel cushioning element color. Here you go.

How's the fit on these babies btw? I'm a 10.5 on the B6 but it's nice and snug and if the Feathers are a little narrower I'm afraid it won't fit me and I'd hate going up a size.
