Adjusting 2hbh to limit wrist pain

After years of playing with no elbow or wrist issues, I’ve recently developed a sore wrist on my non-dominant (Left) hand, which must be coming from its (mis?)use in the 2 handed backhand. I think it may be related to using some stiff poly strings that came with my Klippermate stringing machine, or my burst of tennis (the only socially distant sport) after covid-induced inactivity. My short term solution is to rally with just my one hand slice backhand, which is consistent and accurate, but not a weapon.

Longer term, I want to switch to softer poly strings or tournament nylon (16G syn gut breaks too quickly) and consider adjusting my 2hbh technique. Has anyone successfully changed their technique to eliminate non-dominant side wrist pain? I’d love to hear your experiences.

For reference, my 2hbh has a pretty straight and compact backswing, and the left wrist is ~110 deg at impact—but its always been my more reliable wing. My eastern/semi-western forehand has much more of a loop and racquet drop, and at contact my right wrist is ~150 deg. Should I try to mirror my forehand on the 2hbh?

Have you considered seeing a doctor? You can get wrist issues from things besides tennis.

There is the option of developing a one-handed topspin backhand that can be a weapon but that's a lot of work. I often wonder how people get injuries with a 2HBH as it seems that you have so much support on the racquet.

My hitting partner had a shoulder injury a long time ago and developed complete sets of strokes on both sides. Most aren't able to do that though.

I experienced wrist pain after I changed my racket from Pure Aero purchased probably in 2012, to the Pure Aero purchased in 2019.
In both frames I used Babolat RPM Rough, since it became available.
I changed to a flexier frame, Head Gravity Tour, and since then I didn't experience any wrist pain anymore.
However, getting similar speed for service requires more effort, so occasionally my shoulders tell me to consider to take it easier, or to work on perfecting my technique.

There have been many wrist injuries discussed on the Health and Fitness forum. One thing said is that wrist injuries are often very difficult to heal. You should stop stressing your wrist with the same unknown stress that caused injury in the first place. Imagine a tear getting bigger as you impact the ball, possibly with a flawed technique.................

If you have some high speed videos or slower speed videos compare your 2HBH to high level 2HBHs and look for differences that might be related to your wrist pain.

Is it correct that I've heard that the non dominant hand operates like a forehand for the 2HBH. If that is what is said about the 2HBH research some forehand wrist injuries.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I cant be sure the injury was caused by tennis, but I know using a 2hbh causes more stiffness the next morning. Im tempted to chalk it up to using a year-old full bed of poly strings for a few hitting sessions, but this is also a good time to reexamine my technique (after I heal). Ive also noticed that several pros with 2hbh end up hurting their non dominant wrist. I wonder if Juan Martin del Potro has made any technique changes to prevent more left wrist injuries...I’m going to use exclusively 1hbh while I heal, and maybe learn to run around for inside out forehands XD

See thread Tendon Injury Nuthouse

Tendinitis - with inflammation
Tendinosis - with defective healing

See post #1 for tendinitis & tendinosis
See post #15 for tendinosis

The first post mentions that tendinitis can become tendinosis in only 2-3 weeks in animal experiments.
