Adjusting stringing tension for different types of stringers?

Rookie
I am overseas and am going to a stringer who might be using a lockout machine instead of an electric constant pull, which my regular stringer use. Is there a need to tell the new stringer to string it at a higher tension so that the final tension will be the same as what I've been using with my previous stringer?

As long as he keeps it well calibrated there won't be much of a difference. I'd say 2 pounds higher than usual might be a safe bet as long as you're sure he's using a lockout.

If you want to be a real stickler about it you can tell him to pull every string twice to recreate the constant pull of an electric machine much that may be a little over the top....

It will have a lot to do with the pulling speed of the lockout and constant pull machine. And whether or not the person with the lock does two pulls. It is possible to get nearly identical feels from both stringers. For most applications I would ask the stringer with the lockout to increase tension by at least 3 pounds to start and go from there.
