Adjusting to different surfaces

Hi everyone, I'm new here....

I'm wondering if anyone can give me some advice for adjusting to different surfaces; I play on red clay during the week (2-3 sessions), but har-tru on the w/e, and I'm finding the adjustment from the slow clay to the fast asphalt really tough.

I'm probably somewhere between a 2.5 and 3.0 (returning to tennis after about 10 years off, played a lot in HS and college, but not on a varsity team), use a semi-western FH and an eastern 1HBH (both relatively new for me).

Shallow fast bounces on asphalt are really hard for me -- which is a new thing, b/c I grew up playing on asphalt almost exclusively. Do people switch grips with surfaces? (I did grow up playing with the classic Eastern FH, step into the ball style, and a 2HBH.) Is it just a matter of working the knees, getting down to the level of the ball on the asphalt? Or something else I'm missing?

Thanks in advance.....
