Adult clinics/ leagues in NYC

Hi all:

I'm a 4.0~ player (former competitive junior about 10-15 years ago, very rusty). I just moved to NYC and was wondering whether anyone knew of any adult tennis clinics/ leagues to join? I thought I've done a bit of Googling and seen clinics at the Midtown Tennis Club, Gotham Tennis Academy, Sutton East Tennis Club, Yorkville Tennis Club, Tennis Innovators (at John Jay), etc. I'd prefer to go somewhere in Manhattan, but Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx could work too.

I'd ideally like to find a group to play with once or twice a week, and eventually join a league.

Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

where in NYC are you?
* roosevelt island 4.0-4.5 league/ladder. my 4.5 buddy plays in it
* stadium tennis center (another 4.5 buddy plays in a league/ladder there)
* usta (metro leagues)
i don't know of any clinics in nyc... but i recommend 1 by me in eastchester ny (sp9rtime) if you're willing to make the drive sunday mornings @8a (one 4.5 buddy from nyc makes the drive)... at $100 for 2h, it's gonna be way cheaper than nyc (lol im playing at roosevelt island this sunday, and it's $100 for 1h court time!)

One of my favorite tennis memories occured at Stadium Tennis Center in the South Bronx playing Sunday Night Matchplay which was structured as a Round Robin format, pro set type stuff for 12-15 year olds.

Anyways, as I turned towards the bubble to retrieve a ball to serve the next point a knife stabbed the bubble from the outside and slid downwards. Two hands appeared in the newly knifed slit and pulled outward. I hightailed it to the middle of the court and told the supervising pro.
Turns out it was some local kids whom the outside security later chased down and caught trying to see if they could pop the tennis bubble. Thats old New York for you.

I grew up as a junior playing at Stadium and Roosevelt Island. Good times. Miss it.

Forgive me for stalking but I dug around and saw some of your tourney results. What's up with that doubles match that went unplayed? I'd throw a fit if I dropped $60 for a tourney and didn't get to play a match. Neither your team or the other was awarded a win, its just left blank.

lol, your google-fu is better than mine... i couldn't even find my own results.
was that from a couple years ago?
guessing that neither teams could make it for one reason or another...
i know i've defaulted matches (even after winning - one score went reported as 0-6, 2-5), but i was on vacation the next day... no point making the next match a walkover. $60 for 2h for one match isn't bad... i paid $50 (split $100) at roos for 1h.

1/15/2016 NCT Winter Senior Classic M35d. Looks like a both teams had a bye in the semis and the final was left unplayed

I hit in Brooklyn and am in a similar situation as you. Message me. I try to play on weekends, prices are a little insane right now, but spring is almost here!

Lazy tournament director, lol.

I would call him to enter the score and get those ranking points. Seems silly, but all that counts towards UTR etc, etc. Well it's been over a year so I guess it won't matter now.

Addressing the OP, not sure about leagues but lots of these clubs have ladders as well which can hold some decent 4.5/maybe an aging 5 at the top, guys in their 30s. My father loved these when I was growing up. There was another club called Manhattan Plaza in Midtown and can't forget TennisPort built on a pier! I've seen this latter club in a Woody Allen Movie. I took a lesson there as a kid, one of the few oppurtunities I had to play on Red Clay. This was the 90s so they may not still be around. You move your way up the ladder, you can only challenge 3 spots up.

Try Carry Leeds in the Bronx. You get Westchester and Manhattan players doing high level ladder matches and clinics. Price is good and they have grand slam champ Liezel Huber and
top teaching staff in house.
