advantages/disadvantanges of kick serve toss over head

What are the advantanges/disadvantages of a toss that is way over your head on a kick serve? For me, I get a lot more kick and consistency when I do this. I can kick the balls 5-6 ft when my toss is over my head horizontally by around half a foot vs the 3-4 ft when my toss is directly above my head. However, I heard that this style was bad for your back, and also it'll be really obvious to my opponent that I'm doing a kick serve. Should I stick with this style and try to perfect it? Or work on getting better kick and consistency with the ball toss directly over my head.

I think you just get more brush that way, so in turn gives you more spin..

Generally people recommand kick serve toss that either lands on your left foot, or on your head.

It can depend on a few things. If you are able to get a huge kick out of it, and the other person is having trouble returning, than you could stick with it.

If i were you i would try to disguise it a little bit and see what happens.

I wouldn't worry too much about disguising right away. Most of the time, the heady player will lock on to your serve anyway.

Use it for your 2nd serve if it's starting to strain your back. If your opponent knows you're hitting a kick serve, he still has to return a difficult ball in play, so just concentrate on hitting a good one, and be ready for a short return.
