Hi everyone, first time poster, long time reader. This is going to be long winded, so I apologize in advance...
I am a 4.0 player. I prefer to hit ground strokes (and swinging volleys). My shots are generally flat, but I will hit with topspin too, just not crazy topspin. I have a flat and spin/slice server and like to use both pretty equally. I do play doubles and singles, so I would say I have an all around game, but can be a little slow to react at the net.
I currently hit with a Head LM Instinct, but that was after I cracked the frame on my Becker 11. I hit well with a friends and they were cheap at the time so I wound up buy a few and sticking with the Instinct. However, it was always a bit too much power me. I took a few months off for no apparent reason and now I am back on a USTA team and it's time to get the right racquet for my game.
I have demoed a decent amount of sticks in the past month... starting with ones like the Babolat Aeropro Drive, Head Extreme & Prince EXO3 Black and others (similar to the Instinct, so too much power). Then I moved to the Wilson BLX Blade and the Head Speed IG (16x19 & 18x20). I was still over hitting soome or just didn't like the feel. So I gave the Dunlop 300 tour and 300 a try and had more control, but was missing the sweet spot and couldn't generate enough power on some shots (especially the serve).
So I gave the Dunlop 200 plus a try just the other day and had a great day with it... I think the slightly larger head size (vs 300t/300) was more forgiving for me and I was consistently hitting with enough power and control. My volley even felt more crisp and accurate than usual. I may need to go to get some slightly more control oriented strings (Dunlop Silk 16 on the demo), but all in all this is my favorite so far... which I am a bit surprised by, but it feels really good.
So... I have the Dunlop 200 lite and the Donnay x-Blue 99 and x-Red 99 on the way. I think the 200 lite will be too small for me, but the positive reviews made me want to try it. I am excited to try the Donnay racquets for some reason. Most people seem to love them, but there are some who seem not to trust Donnay and their quality control.
Wow, that's enough history... getting to the point...
1. Has anyone demoed both the Dunlop 200 plus and Donnay Raqcuets listed above. If so, can you compare them? If not, your opinion is still welcome.
2. What is the general consensus on Donnay and whether they will stick around?
