Roger looked very slow and rusty this week and it showed in 3rd set against Felix. He needs another warmup before wimbledon or we are looking at early round upset. Please roger, play one more warmup next week.
He has a better idea. Rafa has dropped out of Wimbledon to be Fed's practice partner.Playing Eastbourne might not be a bad idea. I’m not sure how comparable those grass courts are to Wimbledon.
If he plays at Halle/FAA sets 2&3 level he won’t be needing to withdraw.I suspect even if he was in the form to make it deep into the second week of Wimby (which he clearly isn't), his body would certainly struggle with 2 weeks of 5 set tennis.
So are you suggesting 3 straight weeks of tennis, or enter Eastbourne and withdraw after a match or two?

Yes i am suggesting 3 weeks of tennis. this is grass, not clay, stamina shouldn't be a problem for roger. more of a problem is his playing shape and timing. his timing is awful at the moment,,, it is even more evident now that he's on very fast surface. He needs more matches desperately to find that timing before he starts wimbledonI suspect even if he was in the form to make it deep into the second week of Wimby (which he clearly isn't), his body would certainly struggle with 2 weeks of 5 set tennis.

I could see how maybe playing Eastbourne would tire him slightly before starting Wimbledon but on the same note showing up at Wimbledon with 2 garbage fast grass matches under his belt might be a recipe for disaster. If he shows up at Wimbledon and plays like he did against FAA he's going home early. I think the pros of playing a few matches on grass comparable to Wimbledon outweighs the con of possibly being a little tired arriving at Wimbledon. Maybe he will head to Wimbledon early to get some more practice sets under his belt. I will be really bummed if he gets knocked out early by some bum.I suspect even if he was in the form to make it deep into the second week of Wimby (which he clearly isn't), his body would certainly struggle with 2 weeks of 5 set tennis.

Boodles and Hurlingham, if they are in the cards during protocol restrictions, have both lost their top dogs with Joe Kovic playing Mallorca and The Nadal resting. That would be the equivalent of “practice sets.”I could see how maybe playing Eastbourne would tire him slightly before starting Wimbledon but on the same note showing up at Wimbledon with 2 garbage fast grass matches under this belt might be a recipe for disaster. Wouldn’t be the first time. Stakhovsky got him in round 2!!I will be really bummed if he gets knocked out early by some bum.
