Aerogel 300 Appreciation Society

Three months on, my triceps and shoulder pain is now minimal (thanks to the 4d 300, and acupuncture), and I'm getting back some arm strength. I played lots of singles during the holidays, and felt I needed a little more plowthrough and stability in the head. So I temporarily added a total of 6 grams at 3 & 6 on one of my 4d 300s. The total weight is now in the mid 11s, and the balance is about 2 points HL. I was a bit concerned I wouldn't last too long with the extra weight, and that I could re-injure my arm from the heavier head. I played a looooong singles pro-set yesterday (pulled out an 8-6 win). Thankfully, my arm survived, and I felt the extra weight gave me just the right heft I needed against heavy hitters. I'll give it a couple more playing days before I commit to this setup.

I really wanted a 4d 200 before because I liked the way it crushed balls. But I'm now thankful I got the 4d 300 because I figured I can constantly modify my 300 depending on the condition of my aging body, and the type of game I want to play.

P.S. The prices of Biomimetics have been going down in my country. I assume new models are coming real soon?

Great Thread.. Question..foam in handle of AG300??

Hi,

Just picked up two used AG300 from different folks. Both had factory installed foam in the handle. One frame it is clear that the user removed some of the foam to add lead. It is not the type of foam that Wilson uses, but a "sponge" type. Looks like it does not add much weight to the frame or change the balance point. The frame with the missing (removed) has a bit more vibration. Any thoughts? I have been inside the handle of the AG100 and AG 100 4D.. and no foam. I owned a very early release of a AG 300 and it had quite a bit of vibration. I am wondering if Dunlop made an enhancement to other production frame. What are you seeing in your AG300s?

One of my AG300's is empty, just staples from the butt cap, the other has yellow sponge on one side and is empty on the other, weird.

Interesting... Seems like Dunlop was doing some correction or the factory made some mistakes... or Dunlop was using two production lines. In any event. The one I have with the foam plays a bit more muted than the one I owned a ways back. The one I have with some of the foam removed has a bit of vibration.. but nothing bad, just some feedback. My M-fils have no foam at all... Very interesting.
