Hello guys, its almost 2023, and many many strings on the market and Im thinking about what could be a good string choice for my old (the first) aero pro drive original? In the past i tried around 3-4 strings, so I dont have much experience. Im thinking about hyper g and weiss cannon ultra cable. Please share your thoughts with me, thanks!:)

depends what kind of player you are/what you're looking for - im guessing any of the spin polys would do well given Rafa still uses it with RPM Blast

You may want to try the ones in my sig. RPM Blast won't last long and if you don't cut it, it might cause you arm issues...

Um, i wouldnt call the original APD a box beam or woodie by any stretch of the imagination……
I know. But I have also put it in newer frames as well. Basically it’s one of my go-to benchmark strings. I have yet to put it on anything and regret it.

Weiss Cannon Ultra Cable and Hyper G are both great choices if you are looking for good spin, lower power/good control. Having used Ultra Cable quite a bit, I would strongly recommend pre-stretching it (try 10%) as otherwise you are likely to see a rapid tension loss. Ultra Cable (17g) has more spin potential, unless you go to 18 or 19g Hyper G - but then expect it to be quite a bit livelier and less durable.

I have recently gotten my hands on one and strung it with good ole Poly Tour Pro fearing it's stiffness. Plays good enough, no arm soreness whatsoever. Next time maybe I m trying something stiffer.

Thanks for sharing your experience. Would you consider MSV focus hex? Otherwise I will stay with the hyper G

MSV Focux Hex is rated a bit too high on power and a bit too low for spin for me so I have not had occasion to try it. The numbers look pretty good otherwise, but the only way to really know is to give it a try...

I think as long as you are not looking for "the absolute most" topspin, you will be very happy with hyper G. When I tried it I was still stringing in the mid 50s. I have since gone down to the mid to low 40s and would not go back - much more comfortable; arguably better spin; still very good control (with hyper G or UC)...
