Now that Alcaraz has his 2nd slam, where do you rank him in the Open Era? With help from Ultimate Tennis Statistics, we can put his resume in historical context.

For reference, UTS has a formula to determine GOAT rankings and that metric has him ranked as the 51st greatest player of the Open Era.

I understand his career is far from done and you all probably don't have ready-made lists of the 150 greatest tennis players, but if you were gonna have some fun and estimate his current all-time place vs some of the players in his tier, where would you have him?

I definitely have him in the top 50 and I'd probably have him in the 35-40 range. What say you?

I would probably add Hewitt, Stich, Muster, Rafter, Rios, Safin and del Potro (and possibly Andres Gimeno, although his best years were pre-Open Era).

Of these, Hewitt, Rafter and Safin were 2-time Slam champs (as was Gimeno counting pre-Open and Open era).

There was also Kafelnikov, Bruguera, Kriek w two Slams. I'd put Carlos above those three, nothing against Kafelnikov and Bruguera. Ferrero and Noah were very impressive also. Again, I'd put the youngster ahead. Krajicek had 5 M 1000 equivalent titles along w his Wimbledon and was something when healthy. Goran has the Wimbledon in 4 Finals and 4 M 1000 equivalents. I think I would put the kid ahead of them, also.

In the early Open-era, Tom Okker, Tony Roche, Manuel Orantes, Vitas Gerulaitis, and even Roy Emerson were considerable players. With the possible exception of Orantes, not sure I would put any on them ahead of Carlos.

Still, as pointed out, Alcaraz Garfia has been No. 1 many weeks (albeit failure to award Djokovic 2,000 points for 2022 Wimbledon and barring the fellow from Slams is the main reason for this). More importantly for me, the lad already has 4 M 1000 titles, 2 each on hard and clay, and now reigns champ of the grass court (w especially impressive double triumph at Queen's and Wimbledon), after only playing a few matches on the difficult surface. And, HE BEAT THE CHAMP.

I would subtract Kodes and not sure about Wawrinka. But for the moment let's leave Wawrinka ahead of the boy - three well-earned Slams, after all.

Finally, notwithstanding the terrible beating he has been taking on some of the TT threads lately, I'll put Medvedev right behind Alcaraz Garfia - almost even. Let's remember Daniil has FOUR SLAM FINALS, six M 1000s and an undefeated ATP Finals title. So, Medvedev is also heading toward being in the top 25 and better in the Open era. I really don't think anyone else is close at this point.

The rest of you list works out about right.

Taking your good list and making my adjustments, he is 30th or 31st in the Open era. If I added either Orantes or Kodes, he is still number 32 already. He is 18-years old.
