After Miami, will Murray and Federer play Monte Carlo?

After Federer's illness in Miami prevented him from coming back, do you think he will play Monte Carlo?

After Murray's bad loss to Dimitrov in Miami, do you think he will play Monte Carlo? He hasn't played since 2013.

After Miami, Murray will be just 75 ranking points ahead of Federer. Federer has 90 points at Monte Carlo that will drop off.

Of course, it would be tremendous for Federer to get back to #2 - 14 consecutive years of ranking inside the top 2 at some point in the year would be an awesome achievement.

This achievement as inane as it is, will be very difficult to be duplicated. With respect to Djokovic, I just can not see him ranking in the top 2 in 2022 or beyond.

ATP should merge the senior tour with the mens tour if Fed is going to be #2 at age 34-35, not playing tennis for 2-3 months

Murray doesn't play like a number 2 player, a number 2 is supposed to be the main challenger to the number 1 player, Federer is Djokovic's main challenger.

He hasn't since becoming a father, that's true, but he did in the most important event of the year!

Murray isn't getting paid enough. Playing with a Hulkamania Stan like attitude.

Not ready to stick the fork in just yet.

Yes, Fed for number 2. Why not?

Not to rub it in or anything, but I think some Fed fans care about the #2 ranking more because of it giving certain draw benefits than because of Federer supposedly being the real #2. Sorry if I am wrong. :)

Yes, we would like to see Fed-Novak finals rather than a one sided boring snooze fest that is Novak-Andy finals . Also, it increases the chance for Stan to face Novak and take him out like he has done now twice at the majors.

Personally I don't think Murray's heart is really in the game any longer and I would not be surprised if he starts to drop down the rankings.

Yesterday's display on a strength of character basis was frankly pretty woeful. He knows he will always play second fiddle to Djokovic when it really counts.

On the plus side he has achieved a lot. Two slams, including a Wimby, OG medal on home soil, the Davis Cup, a beautiful wife, a healthy child and maybe £50-70m with a rich career of punditry to look forward to. I fail to see where his future motivation is going to come from.

Sadly, it's hard to argue against any of your points.

He can still be the first British man to win the YEC, so here's hoping that motivates him!

He's done us proud to be honest and I salute for him that.

However, it's been frustrating to follow Murray as one will always be left with the feeling that he should have done a little bit better.

Let's hope he finds some focus and at least wins one more slam. I would love to see him win the Aussie or the French and indeed Wimbledon again. Time is against him and he has only this season and 2017 to have his final say in my opinion.

If he doesn't he might as well retire. The dude hasn't played for 2 months now. I thought the job of professional tennis players was to play matches (and win some). If he's not bothered, retire.

Fed shouldn't retire - you regard yourself as a fan right? Why would you want to see him retire?

How did you come up with such a ridiculous statement? Not bothered? "The dude hasn't played for 2 months now". Yes, 2 months which he spent recovering from an injury. He started training as soon as he could after the surgery in order to return to the tour sooner and you think he isn't bothered?o_O

I am not sure what to expect at all right now for Fed. I was super-excited when I saw how quickly he seemed to be back in full effect. Was all building, and then the big Miami reveal. Only to rip the carpet right out, after all of that. It's there for the taking, but now it's going to take freakin' clay. I mean maybe the door will still be open come grass season couple-of-weeks, but the longer he's away... I dunno.

Yes, and he's won as many tournaments as your avatar without playing.

It had been Federer's original intention to make his return at Monte Carlo so, unless there are further complications following his knee op, he will play there.

Not sure about Murray but I'm guessing he will play there. He had intended to play there last year but it was too soon after his wedding.

Murray is looking like a guy in a BIG DECLINE.. He will never win another major again.
And Lendl is not coming back.
Peak Lendl would of destroyed him with little effort lol

Rafa has had how many breaks in the past few seasons? And they were all 3 times as long as Fed's... Troll.

Federer is healthy now, otherwise he wouldn't've come to Miami. If he is to skip another 2 months when he's healthy then why play on? Skip the entire season with the exception of Wimbledon and the US Open.

Murray's probably a go, no?

As for RF, if FEDCOM has anything to do with it... maybe.
