Alcaraz can win Wimbledon, in that case it becomes very tricky still not impossible. But if he doesn't win Wimbledon and sinner does , from there on, it's just like 2023 season. But sinner is not 35 he will be 24.

The only real question is... how on Esrth did Sinner lose to Medvedev at W last year?

This year he should win W. No excuses. Otherwise, he's by no means better than Raz.
He lost because Medvedev was better on serve and enough in groundstrokes.

That was very good match by Medvedev and should have won in straight sets. He choked in set 1 when he was the aggressor.

Ok set 4 loss is fine sinner was better but not that much better.

Medvedev fought for his dignity that day and won it. Very sweet story. While sinner won the year end number 1 and squashed meddy afterwards so it's a win win.

I don’t see him defending the channel slam. If the big 3 couldn’t do it, I don’t think he will
He’s done stuff the Big 3 couldn’t, at least not at the same age. But yeah, I wouldn’t bet on it either. He was shaky at both last year and so far his form this year isn’t any better. Plus he’s said in a lot of interviews recently that he’s been feeling the pressure, especially with Sinner out. Obviously Jannik will be back for the Channel Slam, but I don’t see those nerves just disappearing. I think he gets one of them, though.

I agree with several of the comments. Also, I think that the crazy success of the Big3 (and even Serena for the women) has elevated everyone's expectations of what a great career should look like.

He has more to lose at FO than Sinner does, just so you know.

We’ll see. Sinners point defense in the next couple months aren’t very big. SF and QF of RG and Wimbledon are easy defend for someone like Sinner. He’ll have some margin with points to gain in Rome and an AtP 250 after. Wouldn’t shock me at all for him to make SF or win Rome either.

It’ll be interesting come US open hard court swing where Alcaraz can make gains having 0 points to defend in toronto and maybe 40 in cincy while Jannik has 1500 in both tournaments followed by us open.

It should be an interesting race.
If anything I can see alcaraz successfully defending RG but not Wimbledon.

Sinner already has it barring injury or another suspension IMO. I doubt alcaraz takes the channel slam again this year and sinner has been resting for 3 months while everyone is playing. Sinner probably already has the US open and year end mopped up. So that leaves RG or Wimbledon for sinner. To me at this point only djokovic turning back the clock can stop sinner at Wimbledon. Alcaraz’s only shot is RG this year. I don’t think he can or will beat sinner on grsss. It’s about matchups and sinner is a nightmare for a matchup for alcaraz on grass

Yes, until things (may) change, Sinner is the best HC player in the world, and should also be competitive everywhere.
But how does he already have the USO and ATP Finals "mopped up"?

Sinner is light years ahead of everyone in those two tournaments. He’s getting Federer and Sampras like at those two tournaments and judging by everyone’s form and Carlos inability at those tournaments, I don’t see sinner losing at either one any time soon. Maybe not for 3-4 years. . Unless Djoker turns back the clock. No one is even close to sinner at the moment at those two tournaments

The only thing that can stop sinner at the us open or year end championship is injuries

Sinner is making at least the finals of both W and RG, this year. I would be very surprised, and disappointed if he doesn’t win one of them this year - this would make up the deficit of him missing four masters events and a 500 class event. He can make some serious inroads on hardcourts and probably will be the one to break the USO curse, if all goes well. Sinner also didn’t play Paris Masters, which should be a court he will do well on. He will comfortably defend Shanghai, I think will be his second best masters event (behind Miami). In terms of 500s, he will defend Halle, and probably wins China Open.

So yes, I think he has a comfortable end to the YE #1.

Djokovic is on a last mission to tear Sinner apart before he fades slowly. Alcaraz was the latest victim to feel the wrath when he sets his eyes for something. Djokovic has prepared for Sinner during these months. I hope they are in the same section at RG.

I think people forget while everyone else is burning themselves out and flying around the world Sinner is resting. The ATP may have given Sinner the calendar grand slam this year with that suspension. I would be shocked if he won less than 3 slams this year and year end championship
