Agassi playing with Yonex Percept

The man can hit with what he wanted. I recall him saying before that he doesn’t actually have a paying deal with Head anymore though, if he needs a tennis racket, he knows who to call at Head and they’ll make him one. Basically implying that while he didn’t get money from them he essentially got free rackets whenever he wanted. But if he wants to try Yonex that’s cool. I’m just happy he still hits sometimes. He was so adement that he’d played his last ever tennis match (in front of an audience) in 2017 that I was seriously afraid he’d give it up for good.

Looks like a court in Hawaii - lava rock walls common in Hawaii - probably on vacation or at some event and just hitting with borrowed equipment is my guess till we find out more info.

Who doesnt borrow blacked out rackets on vaccation like Graf? :-D

Just talked w some people at our club that went to Hawaii and got to hit w them for 45 min (!) the week this was filmed.

They said Agassi hit w the percept, but was also hitting w a blacked out Head racquet. Steffi was also using a blacked out Head racquet.

They said that Steffi was very nice, Agassi was a little less nice, and gimelstob was an entitled jerk who was jealous that all the adulation was on Steffi and Agassi, and not on him. They said he laid on the couch court side, pouting, and played on his phone. Remind me what gimelstob is famous for (besides beating his ex wife's boyfriend in front of his own kid)?

Blacked out head? Neither Yonex nor that blacked out thing is his…

Very likely because its missing his usual tournagrip
I thought the same thing, but I noticed that that he’s using his classic rubber band dampener. You’d think that if it’s not his racquet and he still went out of his way to either bring with him or find the right rubber band that he’d do the same for Tourna grips as well. It’s also possible he’s not so attached to them anymore after using other grips for pickleball.

Not sure what the actual situation is, but I’m just imagining him walking around the the club asking everyone where he can find a #64 rubber band Racquet? I’ll use whatever. Grip? Doesn’t matter. Dampener? A #64 rubber band is absolutely essential.

Percept 100D is also not so far off from the Liquidmetal Instinct that he tried out on clay later in his career. 18x19, 100 sq. in., isometric head shape, and relatively similar beam width.

Long ago, a female player was commentating one of Graf's matches. She said in practice, she hit a topspin backhand but felt in match play it was too risky. Ergo, she's always had it, just never trusted it.

Aged 15 against Durie in 1984, you can see she hits OHBH and slice about 50/50. In fact the slice looks a little more awkward at this age and is not as effective as it was later in her career. The OHBH looks more natural, like the x-court on the 2nd match-point down. Later in her career you can see her playing like this in early rounds, but once she met decent opposition, the slice became the more trusted stroke, probably also because the greater time pressure. The reason people probably think all she did was slice, is she got to the final rounds so often, you'd only ever see her against top opposition.

Damn, Steffi was cold on that handshake. Makes eye contact for 0.0025 seconds while scowling. I get it, she was young and angry about losing, but still.

Steffi was only just 15 at the time and was playing Wimbledon as a practice whilst few big junior events existed. Facing an established Brit on centre court must have been quite scary. You can see from the start she can hardly bear looking up. 15 year old girls in 1984 hadn't had 10 years media training like they have today.
