The average age is 32.1 years. And Federer is not even in it.
Yet he has been old for the last 11 years lol

Nothing but LAME excuses for Fed. Guys like Connors and Rosewall were still alive and kicking and apparently Fed is too old to walk anymore.
Nobody said or was suggesting Fed could handle the PMacs and Harhuis of the world...Nothing but LAME excuses for Fed. Guys like Connors and Rosewall were still alive and kicking and apparently Fed is too old to walk anymore.
Most OVERRATED myth on these boards. Where was 'peak Fed' when Nole and Rafa were kicking his tail in big matches OVER AND OVER?Keep calm and Peak Fed
That hinges on new talent coming along. I would also venture to say a "peak" is not a constant but dynamic especially when you have Feds age discrepancy. He played a dominant style for his generation, New dominant style comes along reliant on slow surfaces and high bounce. He had to adapt and did and has been dominant at times over the past 2 years now along with someone 5 years younger. A substantial difference since he is closer to 40 than 30..I remembered when people used to say "let's see Nadal beating a young guy at 32 like Federer is doing today" when Fed was crushing it at 2012.
No disrespect to Fed, he's the greatest, the GOAT and I don't think anyone will win so much at 36 years old ever again.
However there are other players who have shown great tenacity, Djoko, Nadal, Isner and Anderson are all great players. They are not like Fed.
But people were thinking that Nadal and Djoko only won because they were young. But here they are, 32 year olds battling the SFs.

Obviously Djokovic and Nadal won't play when they're 37 but they are still good when they get to the semifinals of a GS being 32, aren't they?
Yes, but they have not had a Fed,Djoko,Nadal let alone a duo running interference come along either... Even still we are more likely to have someone 25 or older win the occasional Major not younger.I completely agree.

It just shows what a complete bunch of mugs the young players are. Lol to people saying that the big three and their out of this world dominance are the reason that younger players cannot break through. The likes of Zverev and kyrgios do not even reach the Big three and even if Fed and Nadal were already retired the slams would be won by guys like Cilic, Nishikori, Berdych, Anderson, Del Potro etc. before Zverev or Kyrgios. Anderson has now reached a final and an additional semi final a feat Zverev can only dream about. Freaking Isner reaches a semi final while Zverev can’t. I cannot understand why anyone is still hyping these guys.

truNot obvious at all. I think both will play when they are 37, and I am confident that one of them will.
Aging in sport isn’t just a tennis phenomenon. Juventus just paid £99 million for Christiano Ronaldo who is still one of the world’s best at 33 and a half. I think Luka Modric, who is two months from turning 33, should win the best player award. And although he again had a disappointing World Cup, Messi is far from done at 31
And probably they won't have someone like that competing with them because a Fed, Djoko and a Nadal isn't something that happens very often in tennis history.Yes, but they have not had a Fed,Djoko,Nadal let alone a duo running interference come along either... The point was not them and their record breaking accomplishments and domination exclusively. Merely what they represent for their time as did Agassi, Sampras, Courier, Edberg, Becker, Wilander, Lendl, Mac, Borg, Connors etc. Their was a great succession of talent that overlapped. That's been very lacking and for a long time with no real obvious multi slam winner in sight other than from attrition. Maybe you mistook that as defending Fed idk...And probably they won't have someone like that competing with them because a Fed, Djoko and a Nadal isn't something that happens very often in tennis history.
