Hahahahaha, I guess winter is already here...Nice 'Yellowsnows'.
Agreee should have just re-released the challenge court supremeLook, I can’t argue, the colours are great - but unfortunately they got the silhouette horribly wrong & we’re still talkin’ lipstick on a pig here.
(You put lipstick on a pig, it’s still a pig.)

It's sad, Nike had to create a fake drama to hype these shoes. What's even worse is that nike thinks we're stupid to buy their marketing show.
Huh...well if I'm a representative demographic, I grew up playing tennis in the 80s, and I distinctly remember owning these grey/black Mac Attack shoes and loooovvvved them (same with the Agassi acid wash jean shorts which I'd love to purchase someday), and now that I own a pair of these releases and look down on them as I walk, there's clearly an old memory that gets tapped into as I remember that look and feel from when I was a teenager wearing these.I kind of agree and have always felt this is a false classic and no one has ever really talked about it or expressed interest in it prior to 2021/2022 when production rumors started. Lots of hype about this being a legendary shoe, ehhh maybe... but of all the reports of it being part of his 1984 legendary year doesn't look like he wears them until early 1985 (maybe Nov/Dec of 1984) - definitely not his Wimby or USO championship shoe for 84 (please correct me if I'm wrong). Out of all the hyped Nike tennis shoes of the past (prior to 1995) people ask for, this was never one of them (ATC1-4 is usually all that people want).
You are A demographic, but if you old enough to own the shoes in the original run you are probably not THE demographic most Nike retros of any sport are marketed towards (usually it’s the current 16-30yr olds). That’s awesome you get to grab a pair from your past, that is always a treat. Not denying the shoe was a thing in their day and a marquee shoe for Nike tennis before the ATC line. I also grew up playing in the 80s but not many Nikes had an impact on me before visible air models exploded on the scene (AJ3, ATC2, AM90s), which I never got to own as a kid, but now I’ve been able to own multiple versions of each!Huh...well if I'm a representative demographic, I grew up playing tennis in the 80s, and I distinctly remember owning these grey/black Mac Attack shoes and loooovvvved them (same with the Agassi acid wash jean shorts which I'd love to purchase someday), and now that I own a pair of these releases and look down on them as I walk, there's clearly an old memory that gets tapped into as I remember that look and feel from when I was a teenager wearing these.
You are not wrong: John didn't wear this shoe during his great slam run in 1984. And the checkered tongue logo matches the nike apparel design that McEnroe started to wear form 1985. In other words, he never won a GS title wearing this shoe or a swoosh on his chest. That's how his career played out. To me he's more famous for the Sergio Tacchini outfit ( that Davis Cup jacket! ) than any nike shoe.I kind of agree and have always felt this is a false classic and no one has ever really talked about it or expressed interest in it prior to 2021/2022 when production rumors started. omfg you are right! with all the marketing propaganda I forgot about that!he never won a GS title wearing this shoe or a swoosh on his chest.
For sure, excellent point. Definitely not the target demographic, but probs A target demographic since middle aged men like myself tend to have more disposable income, and I know a lot of guys in my age and demo who stock up on cool sneakers. You are A demographic, but if you old enough to own the shoes in the original run you are probably not THE demographic most Nike retros of any sport are marketed towards (usually it’s the current 16-30yr olds). I was more pointing out that the SneakerHead community is annoying and very non-interested in the Mac Attack for 35yrs and now they are acting like they’ve been clamoring for it for years and that’s it’s the shoe Mac made his big 84 run in, etc. Mostly this new hype just is all because of the Travis Scott revival of these, he was gifted an original dead stock pair a few years ago and started this buzz, good on him, he is great at marketing. BUT, before that this shoe was never mentioned/begged for like the Agassi’s (ATCs, Flares, LWPs). Looking at the SneakerNews archives there was one mention of the Mac Attack in 2012 as part of “tennis week” then nothing for ten years until the Travis Scott stuff started bubbling; Hypebeast no articles until 2023.
Yep, his biggest mistake was taking that 85 year off - he never recovered from that and didn’t come close to reaching his 84 form again, some of that was due to the rise of Becker/agassi/sampras. But that’s also when the McEnroe marketing machine kicked into gear along with Nike (anyone remember the Beatles Revolution commercials?)omfg you are right! with all the marketing propaganda I forgot about that!

John did play the final of US Open in '85, a replay of the '84 final. I wouldn't say he took that 85 year off. In my opinion, Lendl did more damage to McEnroe's career that Becker and the other guys. I read his book and he had hard time understanding how a "robotic" Ivan was kicking his butt. Interesting. How would nike know that? From internet sales?Actually you probably are their target market.
Nike sells the majority of their products to adult men between the ages of 40 to 55 years old.
Dads, coaches, working professionals, etc. Those are the people who buy the retros.
From the names on the order of the parents who bought them for their teens who were begging for the retros!Interesting. How would nike know that? From internet sales?
Correct. No air unit whatsoever. There is not a whole lot of underfoot cushioning on these. The Mac attack don't have an air unit or air zoom unit, is that right?
I don't think they even have a midsole, hahahaThe Mac attack don't have an air unit or air zoom unit, is that right?

Rereleased right? Cause I remember the same one came out last year
This OG Grey colorway was the first release of the Nike Attack Retro series and you are technically correct as they did come out last June. However at that time, this colorway only released through NBHD stores and never dropped on SNKRS and was not available ever on NDC (in the USA). This made the shoe difficult for some to get at retail.Rereleased right? Cause I remember the same one came out last year
You're killing me, smalls.
Take my money! I have a pair of Challenge Courts where the sole is hardening so these would be perfect! Any release details?
I saw a comparison, Im glad they are the same little color differences for rerelease but overall same. Can anyone share photos of Johny Mac wearing these in the 80's? Now, that would be really cool.
Isn't he paid to wear this?Coach Izzo rocking the Mac Attacks.
